Disgruntled Kobe King

If Gard and Lickliter got together to put on a basketball camp the slogan would be "How Slow Can You Go?" and this would be the logo:

Criticisms of Wisconsin's style are similar to knocks you hear about Iowa's football style.... "boring" … "predictable" .. "slow" etc. Like Iowa football, When Wisconsin has the right combination of players their style can frustrate and wear down opponents. The Hawkeyes experienced that for the first 34 minutes of the contest (even though the Badgers are lacking the usual one or two all-B10 type players).

I prefer Fran's up tempo style but don't kind yourself, Wisconsin's style has proven effective also.

I don't really badger(pardon the pun) Wisconsin's style too much because like it was stated above.... it's similar to what our football program is.... if it's successful, it's a thing of beauty... if it's not, then it's hair pulling agony

Iowa's style of football play is nowhere near as boring and unwatchable as Wisconsin's style of basketball play. They are not even close, and it's not because I'm a Hawkeye fan. A good defensive football game is a blast to watch, as long as it's not 10 to 7 or 6 to 4. A defensive low scoring basketball game is atrocious and very hard to watch. For last night's game, I started watching late on DVR, and it was so freaking boring at times that I watched it on fast forward.

Maybe he’s disgruntled because he doesn’t want to be associated with a bunch of flopping, cheap shot artists. I’m not sure if their tactics are taught in practice on a daily basis, but I guarantee he sees them in practice every day.

kid knew what kind of ball they played when he went there. Don't cry now
How many here remember when Wisconsin was notorious for playing you with a hand in the middle of your back. You used to see scores in the mid to high twenties. Wisconsin is why they changed that hand checking rule.

I don’t know how the game survived the no shot clock era. Imagine watching that. Should have killed the sport.

Can't say I ever liked the no shot clock era but did love it when you couldn't dunk the ball. It made post play an art where players like Bill Russel,Wilt Chamberlain, and Bill Walton show post moves and shots players today have no idea existed.

Problem is Gard isn’t coming close to bringing in the players Bo did. Gard inherited a class with 4 jr starters with the group of Nigel Hayes and koening and Happ as a red shirt freshman. Now he’s in his first year with all his own guys. They have a lot of juniors who play but just not on the level of Bo’s squads. His situation is very similar to Prohm how both were really good first 2 years and slowly dropped off after losing the predecessors guys.

Shocking. Boring ass basketball with a boring ass coach. Why would any kid want to play there?

I was just talking to my buddy who is a Wisconsin fan and he said they have one of the best classes coming in that they have ever had.

Madison papers say the Badgers were pumped last night for a “must” & a “signature” win they felt they needed to get into the tourney this year.
No surprise then that they played so hard & physical. Without King, they were really fired up to show they belong.
Bobby Knight used to say it’s not who you play it’s when you play them. We dodged a bullet last night.

It’s a pretty solid group with Ben Carlson being the cream of the crop. Wisconsin just destroys in recruiting in the Twin Cities Suburbs. Reuvers, Davidson, and Waul all from the suburbs and Carlson and Crowl coming next year from there and many more over the last 10 years.

This is pretty eye opening. This would be like Gatens or Tim Dwight transferring out during their time here. Both grew up bleeding black and gold and the local hometown Golden Boys. Though if Gatens would've and came close to if Lick stayed couldn't have blamed him.

I see where Wisc. has twin brothers from same town as King. Wonder if he's been in their ear at all. Looks like on paper they have a good class coming in wonder if this will effect future classes at all between King and Herro both in state kids backing away from the program ripping on Gard.
