We have a couple reliable RBs but lack a home run threat in the run game. guys like kaleb and goodson and the guy won’t be named provided that element and i think we need that.
Not happening. We have a couple reliable RBs but lack a home run threat in the run game. guys like kaleb and goodson and the guy won’t be named provided that element and i think we need that.
No - I think we have capable backs - rather have an elite QBWe have a couple reliable RBs but lack a home run threat in the run game. guys like kaleb and goodson and the guy won’t be named provided that element and i think we need that.
I’m surprised you would say this. The top priority has to be QB and WR.I say yes. We saw the power of a great RB this year.
The chances there is a “Kaleb Johnson” available, are exceedingly low.I say yes. We saw the power of a great RB this year.
The way college football is now, a team like Iowa needs to be looking to upgrade every position group every offseason unless there’s an all-conference caliber player returning, along with good depth. You can’t sit back and hope to make it work with players who are just OK.The chances there is a “Kaleb Johnson” available, are exceedingly low.
There are other groups in far more need. The way college football is now, a team like Iowa needs to be looking to upgrade every position group every offseason unless there’s an all-conference caliber player returning, along with good depth. You’re right that they’re probably not going to get a guy who’s a top 2-3 back in the country, but I think they can improve the RB group.
DbOL, QB, WR
RBs are good single and doubles hitters. Home run once in a while. Nothing like KJ who was multi home run a game
Iowa has to find a way to join the present with passing game. They’d stand no chance trying to play Kirk ball against these teams.
Imagine Iowa needing 40+ points and maybe still not being able to win
Brevin Doll is our portal pick up.
Moulton looked explosive on his long TD run… but I don’t think we need another RB… but if there’s a good one then by all means sure it wouldn’t hurt. QB is number 1 and then maybe a few oline… and WR like many others thinkWe have a couple reliable RBs but lack a home run threat in the run game. guys like kaleb and goodson and the guy won’t be named provided that element and i think we need that.
If Iowa had unlimited spots and money, sure, but a difference maker like that probably doesn’t exist. The way college football is now, a team like Iowa needs to be looking to upgrade every position group every offseason unless there’s an all-conference caliber player returning, along with good depth. Really like McNeill. I think they stole one in the 25 class.Jaz, Moulton, Washington, and Doll. The position is covered for now. Not sure the incoming freshman. Focus on qb, wr, and line.
And a DT.Na, spend that money on an OT, WRs and a QB

Totally agree! Just like everyone said this year that our D would be fine without DeJean, I think we are missing a major detail in personal next season. I think stud running back should be priority #1We have a couple reliable RBs but lack a home run threat in the run game. guys like kaleb and goodson and the guy won’t be named provided that element and i think we need that.
No. Iowa needs a QB and wide receivers. How much longer is this worst in nation passing offense supposed to continue? We have a couple reliable RBs but lack a home run threat in the run game. guys like kaleb and goodson and the guy won’t be named provided that element and i think we need that.
imo if kj is a 10, moulton is a 5 and jaz a 3.5; so a 8 or 9 would be a significant step up. and chances are that the ol will run block far better than pass block. all said if we had to pick between a 9 qb and 9 rb, i will obviously take the qb but not between a marginally better qb and a stud rb.I look at it this way. If KJ was a 10 on a scale from 1-10, then Moulton and Jazz are at least a 7, maybe an 8. So trying to upgrade to a 9 (a 10 ain’t coming here) doesn’t do us much and drains both time and resources.
I think we need to prioritize OL and possibly DB even before QB unless the QB is a can’t miss starter. Our LBs next year are unproven as well.
Long story short, we have unknowns across the board, but RB isn’t one of them. Focus on where we for sure know we need help first and foremost!
i think you hit the nail head with the dejean analogy. iowa needs a difference maker. this year’s dejean was kj. last year we had 2 (tory was the other)Totally agree! Just like everyone said this year that our D would be fine without DeJean, I think we are missing a major detail in personal next season. I think stud running back should be priority #1
You might be right, but I don't think Jazz or Molten are that close to Johnson. The badgers had a Johnson almost every year and that's how they built that program for 3 decades. No reason we can't keep reloading that position now that we're the premiere rushing team in the Big Ten. Molten and Jazz are good but they're not NFL running backs.I look at it this way. If Moulton and Jazz are a 5 and a 3.5, then there is no such thing as an 8 or 9, and KB is the greatest RB of all times.imo if kj is a 10, moulton is a 5 and jaz a 3.5; so a 8 or 9 would be a significant step up. and chances are that the ol will run block far better than pass block. all said if we had to pick between a 9 qb and 9 rb, i will obviously take the qb but not between a marginally better qb and a stud rb.
in my estimation kj was indeed the best rb i’ve seen at iowa.If Moulton and Jazz are a 5 and a 3.5, then there is no such thing as an 8 or 9, and KB is the greatest RB of all times.
No, they had a great line and running scheme for three decades, and a threat of a passing game. They had one or two KJ level RBs.You might be right, but I don't think Jazz or Molten are that close to Johnson. I don’t disagree, but you are suggesting Moulton and Jazz are trash.in my estimation kj was indeed the best rb i’ve seen at iowa.
They had Melvin Gordon, James White, and Monte Ball all on the same team. They all played in the NFL. They had good lines no doubt, but they had a stud RB every year until Chryst was fired. No, they had a great line and running scheme for three decades, and a threat of a passing game.
