Do You Consider Yourself a Member of the Democratic Party?

Do You Consider Yourself a Member of the Democratic Party?

  • Yes

  • No

  • Only on Election Day

Results are only viewable after voting.
Well I was a RAT, then a RINO and now NPA.

But living in the Panhandle, I identify more with Democrats, because the “Republicans “, are all MAGA.

I love Michael Steele, “I’m still a Republican because it really pisses off MAGA”.

I view the country as Democrats and MAGA.
There are few Republicans out there, especially those with a spine.

Everyone knows where the Bushes and Cheneys stand. It is really sad that there is no Republican Party anymore.

A true Republican would never stand for a Doge thing to get near DOJ, DOD, and NSA. Not to mention CIA, FBI and yes, USAID.

But, the idiot MAGAs just blindly follow the cult. The cult that is giving in to the likes of the current world dictators, Xi. NK guy, and Putin.

Continuing on this path and we will soon be Ametikastan.

I can fully understand how people can be frustrated with The Democratic Party. Do you still align yourself with them?

Aoc should be leading the charge now, and they continue to hold her back.
Member of and align with are two different things. Independent here, but voting trends lately make me seem like a democrat, given the alternative.

Well, when one party goes far extreme and you are left sitting in the same place, the other side who has shifted much less seems more attractive. Again, problem with a 2 party system.

"But what about them forcing you to attend book readings by the trannys!!???" whatevs, I like books.

Not really, I selected only on election day because that's just how it's worked out with most of the elections in my lifetime being a lesser of two evils situation.
Also Jerome just the other day.
I am politically liberal and don't find it to be particularly insulting.
this thread is great btw.
The thought that everyone who is Republican is maga yet they don’t see the same thing (liberal) with the Democratic Party.
Then you got the I voted for the lesser of two evils which in their mind they thought was democrat. Yet if someone voted for the lesser of two evils and voted Republican, you all think they are maga.
Just a bunch of peeps with blinders on.

I am a left leaning Independent.

I'm a CPA. At one time I considered myself a Republican. Fiscal restraint, law and order, national defense, etc. But then I saw what Reagan's policies of "trickle down" economics did to the country. You could depreciate an office building over 18 years leading to massive development. The problem was that many of these buildings stayed empty - foreclosures and super-high interest rates followed.

After that debacle I saw the rich get richer and the middle class go nowhere. Manufacturing in this country disappeared. We went to war and accomplished nothing except spending billions and killing American solders. The stock market continued to grow - a good thing, but only if you have stocks. Government continued to spend money they didn't have. Our elected officials stopped "representing" their constituents and became Party first career politicians. Political parties became enemies - winning was all that mattered. That and getting reelected.

New Presidents came in and undid everything the former POTUS did. An incredible waste. Parties blocked SCOTUS nominees for no other reason other than that they could so they could "win".

In short, I find both parties to be pitiful. I have no interest in "joining" either one.

AOC? You're kidding, right? More than anything the DEMs need strong, wise leadership. She ain't that.

Both parties are a mess. Haven't been a "member" of either for quite some time. One has been taken over by Trump, the other so incompetent it can't provide a decent alternative when the country is pleading for one. WTF has happened?

Just a bunch of peeps with blinders on.

It's very telling that you think my view signifies some sort of hypocrisy, and that in order to get there you had to tell me(who is not "you all") what I think.

There are blinders here, but I'm not sure they're located where you think.

Ds need someone under 50 who is considered attractive for their age and who speaks well or seems likable. Then, they need to embrace a handful of key items/phrases (focus on main street, healthcare, SS, military, balanced budget, etc.) and repeat them ad nauseum. Have them go out to Rogan, Call Her Daddy, Smartless, Theo Von. Attend large/major events like Daytona, Super Bowl, WS, etc... and meet with press gaggles there. The masses from a variety of walks of life will be exposed to them and feel like they know them one way or another. The days of just going on 60 minutes, This Week or just WH press are over. Just thinking back a few years the guy who mostly comes to mind is O 'Roark or however you spell his name. He had it factor... and the regular guy likeability. They need to find something like this and get them out there soon.

I have always been a Dem even by 13 years old or earlier. I am a progressive, liberal that if I could would tax the rich much higher in order to create a safety net for kids and the poor through transfer payments like tax credits. Rich people make money off of all the various infrastructures in the US so they need to be taxed higher to help pay for the upkeep.

But I know that most people dont agree with going that far so AOC is not the answer to gain the political majority. The Dems lost the last prez election by appearing more progressive and not focusing on basics even though I dont think the electorate was really listening.

I have read and heard statements already made by recent Trump voters who are very sad about their decision saying they cant believe what Trump is doing firing people, etc etc.

So I think moderate Dems who want to progress to better things for all Americans but especially those who need help is who we need. Maybe a Dem Gov like Behears from KY.

I replied specifically to you because I wanted to call you out for being a happy liberal the other day and now saying you vote democrat because it’s the lesser of two evils.
The you all was in reference to all of you posting on this thread making it seem like you’re not really a democrat but don’t want to be a maga like that’s the only other option.

I know what you were trying to do, which is why I was trying to politely inform you that your assumptions that a liberal has to be a member in good standing of the DNC is wrong.

Once again, I have no idea how you arrive at the last part of your post where you tell others what they are thinking.

Jim Himes and Chris Murphy are good dems.

They are moderates that understand government and national security.

I’ve quoted some people below. Where they basically point out they vote democrat because it’s the only other option. Yet you yourself voted for democrat because it’s the lesser of two evils in your mind.
Do you think it’s possible to vote republican and think it’s the lesser of two evils in someone else’s mind? Or is that just being a full blown maga?
Not much of what the president does has any impact on me. I was better off financially under Trump than I was under Biden or Obama. Does that make me a maga then if I voted for him because I prefer to be better off financially when nothing else he does has any impact on my life?

Is there really another option.?
The emperor has no clothes and 99% of the other party is too afraid to tell him.

Registered as a dem to caucus for Amy K. In 2020.
I am a fiscal conservative, cultural progressive.
Democrat is the only option with magaGOP the alternative.

I’m a never Trumper independent. Neither party works for me, although since the GOP went all in on MAGA I haven’t voted for a single Republican that endorsed Trump.

Still registered as an R, but haven’t cast an R vote for President, Senate or House in several election cycles. My last 4 POTUS votes went Obama, Johnson, Biden, Harris. I consider myself an independent and do not see myself aligned with either party anytime soon.
My last 4 were Gary Johnson (caucused for Ron Paul that year), didn't vote, Jo Jorgenson, didn't vote.

The system is rotten.

Dude, I don't f@cking know your mind or why you vote for Trump but are also offended by the term MAGA.

Maybe instead of worrying so much about this hypocrisy you think you've ID'd you could just present you opinions. Or not, I don't care.

I do feel confident saying that if you think you're ever going to vote for a politician and then never hear people disagree, use hyperbole to denigrate said politician or witness trolling you're a long ways from reality.

After the shitty campaign they ran, with a slogan of "Not Trump", nothing will fundamentally change/status quo, more concerned with Liz Cheney and trying to get centrist republicans to vote for her (who were never going to) - I registered as an independent. I align with democrats much more than I do with republicans but until they get off their asses, grow a spine and adopt populist policies that help working class folk I'll remain an independent.

I can't stand MAGA, but Blue MAGA is cut from the same cloth.

Sorry, if you voted for a piece of shit like Trump, you're MAGA, end of story.
