Absolutely, it's how a far right candidate like Trump, using false promises, appealed to working class people through populist policies. It's why he was able to steal away Bernie voters from Hillary as well.
Having voted for Republican candidates for president from 1972-1996, it might surprise some that I joined the democratic party in 2015. I will not vote for another republican at any level, until the maganazis are all gone.

I have despised both parties equally for decades. Now, my disdain for the democrats pales in comparison to that of the Republican Party.
