Do you have a house cleaner?

they are 8 and 6 so their time will come. We have a very steep hill in our yard that I don't want them mowing ever. There is a creek between us and our neighbors so we have lots of uneven ground to mow. Mr. Birch slipped and fell twice and the lawn service was hired immediately after the second fall. He escaped injury twice and I didn't feel like tempting fate by giving it a third shot at him.
You should have just bought him a pair of cleats for his birthday.

We don’t. With empty nesting right around the corner, we’ll hold out. I can’t possibly see the need for one when the kids are gone.

As in a for-hire cleaner. If so, what do they do for you?

How long does it take them and what does it cost?

How often do they clean?

Does it take a lot of work to get your house ready for the cleaner?

Are they hot?

Is it worth it?

I feel like I asked this before but cannot find the thread and I never did get a cleaner. But TBW is on me again and so here I am, asking the fancy people of HROT for info on how they be fancy.

So basically:

- your house is cleaned by someone else.
- your yard is mowed by someone else.
- youd have a chef is possible

Why do you even own a house?

I would suspect enjoying the space and unshared walls, in addition to being able to do whatever the f*ck you want (subject to zoning and covenants) with your own property would top the list.

She values her time doing things other than chores.....which I'm guessing there are still plenty of that they do themselves.

The problem with your "this is mine and only I should maintain it" mentality is the pious approach you take. WTF do you care if people hire domestic help? I'd rather play with my kids than clean the toilets with them.

You're probably a firm "adopt, don't shop" asshole, too.

You think the main benefit to having a house is getting to clean it, maintaining a yard, and cooking?

Oh wait...is house cleaner slang for someone who licks your butthole?

If so...OP’s mom is my house cleaner.

$100 every 3 weeks for approximately 3 hours. Really nice lady who recently got her American citizenship. Her mom was visiting her mom in Tijuana when she was went into labor. All of her brothers and sisters were born in America. I’m guessing most of the cons on this board would have preferred she had been deported.

We have one that comes once a week and she’s flipping crazy. We want to get a different one, but she’s so crazy and does too many of our neighbors that we are scared if she saw someone else cleaning our place she’d stab our kids, poison our dog, start our house on fire, and dismember the new cleaning crew.

And since this is HROT, she’s a 1/10 on the Iowa Hotness Scale, 6/10 on Nebraska’s.

$80 to clean once a month. Vacuum, dust, clean 4 bathrooms, clean hardwood, change sheets. Worth it for the bathrooms alone.

I value ownership and responsibility of things I purchase. Not making other take care of my shit.

Yeah, I’m sure you’re using all that “extra” free time playing with your kids. Not sitting around and posting on HROT.

No, but I believe in responsibility of things purchased and ownership. Not passing the buck to things within your ability to do.

Should Jeff Bezos mow his own lawn? Should he spend his time cleaning toilets and mopping?

1) There are many ways to take care of things you own. In most cases, I can pay someone to do a better job preserving my house than I can do on my own.

2) My kids are at school right now, dickweed. I don't stare at my phone when I'm with them.

Yeah, you probably pay someone to take care of them like everyone else, dickweed.

And if you can’t “preserve your house” better than a cleaning person or lawn business my guess is your pretty worthless

I just want to say I know how to make bread, but I choose to buy most of it in the store. I could have a garden and I dont. My wife can sew but we dont make our own clothes.

I’m speaking on things within your ability. If you can’t mow or clean then your pretty worthless

You can feel that way, but at least I know the difference between your and you're. And yes, the lady who cleans my house -- and does it for a living -- is a better cleaner than I am. The guy who cuts my lawn and keeps it weed free -- and does it for a living -- is a better yard guy than I am. This is not an unreasonable observation, Hank Hill.

Sorry you can't afford a maid.

Hold on. I know how to mow but don't want to do it. I know how to clean but don't want to do it. I'm sorry that how I choose to use my disposable income doesn't fit with your priorities. My favorite part of being HROT rich is being able to pay other people to do the things I don't want to do.

Worth is irrelevant. I’ve been very fortunate in my life and have a crap ton of money.

You say charity/welfare is bad and socialist.

Yet here I am paying people to work hard mowing my lawn, cleaning my pool, changing my car oil, cooking my meals, tailoring my suits, guarding my entrance gate, answering my phone, tuning up my jet, etc...and you say that’s bad.

Pick one it the other. But if you’re going to try and eliminate grunt work...don’t bitch when those potential employees are drawing welfare.

Oh, man, you got me! Grammar police.

Both of those things listed are not hard to do for any common person but since you sound pretty useless I guess I can understand.

What you are saying makes no more sense to me than somebody claiming you are worthless if you do mow your own lawn. Nobody should he judged for freeing up their time to spend how they want, if they can afford it.

Maybe you are at a different point in your life.

You're having a problem understanding that I can do these things, but I can pay someone to do them better than me. The money doesn't mean as much to me as the quality and the time. My responsibility as an owner comes from ensuring that they're done well and on schedule.

I can manage my own money, but I employ a wealth manager. He gets me better returns than I could achieve on my own.

I can tailor my own clothes. I have a relationship with a wonderful man who makes my clothes fit far better than I could achieve on my own.

I can drive home after four drinks. I call an Uber because there's no sense in risking my life or endangering others.

The list goes on, you unsophisticated dolt.

I simply believe a person values something more when “they” do the work. It builds a sense of ownership.

I could have went and bought storage racks for my garage, instead I made them along with my son. I could have paid someone to build a playhouse in backyard, I did it instead. You don’t get that sense of pride paying other people.

I think this is true. I did the work to earn the money that allows me to spend it they way I want. That's where we differ. I could build racks for my garage but it's not something I enjoy doing it so I don't. I could clean my own house but I don't enjoy doing it so I don't. I've worked really hard to not have to do things I don't want to do around my house but those things still need to be done.
