Does BM not like centers?

As of today he is still listed as committed to Iowa.
Briscoe and lewis are not.
Hope we can keep Badara,Briscoe and Johnson- Arigu.
Biadara Diakite---I had to look up the spelling...and 6'10.

He looks to be one of the West African guys like Traore, Dimbele, Tadjo. We know Dimbele is in Portal...it might be that having
a group of them with similar cultural backgrounds helps to make Iowa a good place for them to fit in. It depends on their Visa status
whether they are eligible for NIL.

Tadjo looked Huge--naturally muscular and as athletic as anyone Iowa has had. I'd take him if he wants to stay....and hope he becomes
another Akeem Olajuwon from the old days. Tadjo looked incrediblly unpolished--worse than Dembele on skill level, but way better athlete. Biadara, who knows who he plays...his stats I saw looked like another project.

Anyway, McCollum will sort it out. We do need two big men on the roster and it would be nice if one of them was 7ft.

I suppose Mulvey is cheap on an NIL basis..or maybe you pay 4 years and get 5th year free situation.

did Tadjo even play this year? I dont even remember him in blowouts... could he redshirt?

Adam Woodbury 7'1" with verticle leap of the Des Moines phone book
I remember reading that Woodburys wingspan was only 6'7.

Seems like a majority of 7fters have wingspans greater than their height.

That really limited him on shot blocking and dunks.

He had T Rex arms. Still a great defender and next season would be Iowa's star.

Was looking at Drake's roster and noticed no one was over 6'8" but also no one under 6'3" ... curious if BM just couldnt get a true center or prefers this kind of roster? TBH I kinda like it, somewhat positionless basketball, everyone can guard everyone so can switch everything and not let the other team single out the weakest link (looking at you Harding)
I have seen far too much of positionless basketball.

Good thing you know so much more about basketball than these head coaches of these schools - Louisville, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, TCU, Texas Tech and Washington. They all want Brock.
Wanting someone for near Free and paying up for someone are completely different things. Everyone needs roster fillers.

There's really not much difference between 6'11" and 7ft, (I know one inch right) and we've had lots of 6'11" guys . Woodbury maybe 7', Jepsen I think was. An athletic 6'10" or 11" is fine..
Got to look at what kind of reach the bigs have in conjunction with the ht of their head. 6'10 is fine if you have longer arms.

My recollection as well that he had short wingspan compared to most 7 footers.

Not sure what a true center is in your mind. Holmgren is one of the best paint protectors in the game.
He plays 90% of the game around the perimeter. And defensively he does not guard the other teams Center. So no, I wouldn’t call him a Center. With his 12 foot wingspan he blocks a fair amount of shots.

Sometimes you need an inside bruiser to grab rebounds.
Most time you have to be able to jump to get rebounds (relative to the other athletes in the BT he'll be playing against).

We need to set our sights a little higher on athleticism. Think Gabe Olaseni types.

Lol at posting an article from 2017. Always funny seeing people who don’t watch the Association comment on it.
I do watch it you knucklehead, look at Mo Bamba's stats. There's a reason the Pelicans have no chance of sniffing the playoffs and if big centers were still in vogue in the NBA, they would.

Tadjo could be a sleeper for McCollum, if he can learn to play defense. The fact that he hasn’t entered the portal and was lightly recruited gives me hope.
