Does this mean I'm a true hawk fan

For college sports, that's how I am. The only sport I watch pretty much every game I can is the NFL.

I'll "dabble" with other games...like tomorrow's FBS championship, and the Big Dance. But for major college football and basketball, it's mostly the Hawks or nothing.

As for what defines a true Hawk fan, to me that's a simple definition. Do you support the team no matter what? If yes, you're a true Hawk fan. Support = wanting them to win every game they play. None of that "I hope they lose to get coaches fired" horsehockey.

I'll support Iowa sports even if they lose, literally, every game they play in a season. I place zero conditions on that. They are never not worthy of my support.

Hawkeye till I die...

When I don't really care to watch anyone but the hawks in bb and fb on tv?

The Hawks and Tottenham are the only two things I try to do things around or DVR. Any other sporting event...I'll watch it if it's on TV. But I really don't care too much who wins.

Yeah right. Watch a bunch of guys dong the Clemson on each other.
Yeah who wants to watch the Alabama dynasty continue! (fart noises)

I'm actually glad I've got a game tomorrow night and won't be able to watch that game. Neither team has done anything besides being more talented than everyone else, to deserve playing in the NCG.

Between the finger banging and the mocking and cockiness of Clemson and the smugness and the seedy underlying stuff that goes unchecked at Alabama just because...........it's hard to root for either team tomorrow.

During the season, I generally watch a couple of college basketball games every evening. I enjoy the different approaches to the game, the talented players and even the varied arenas. I DVR all the Iowa games and watch them a couple of times and sometimes save them for years. I still have a couple of Marble era games on my DVR.

It's just my opinion, but I think if you only watch the Iowa games, you get a pretty myopic view of the sport, which happens to be my favorite.

I watch every Iowa game (both sports) I can and as many other CBB and NBA games as I can. I don't watch a ton of other CFB, just parts here and there, and I watch hardly any NFL games.

Or he has a life and can't just sit around watching sports all day.

Outside of Iowa and the NFL, I really don't have time for any other sports.

Maybe, but doubtful. Hey, some night this week when there's multiple NBA & NCAA games on, you two can watch the tv show "This is Us." I've seen previews do it, seems to be right up your alley.

Wow, you really got us good there.

One of these days when you grow up and move out of mommies house you might understand. You know, priorities.

Why Tottenham? I wanted to get a Dempsey Spurs jersey but he wasn't there long enough to count :)

I'm a sports junkie. I love NCAA football/basketball, NFL, MLS, US soccer. I'll watch any of those that I can. Don't have unlimited time for that stuff but I'll try to watch it all when I can. My favorite teams I don't miss a game unless there is something else I can't avoid.

for me, it just meant I was married and had kids and couldn't sit around and watch TV, so I had to prioritize, and the hawks were all that was left. Even then I sometimes have to DVR and watch later.

For me it's based on how well Iowa is playing. If Iowa is in the top 10-15 in either football or basketball it will peak my interest to watch other teams and see how good they are. When Iowa is struggling I'm really not interested in watching other teams play, but I might bother to see who won or lost.

Just don't have the time to waste on sports like I used to.

I guess I just have a soft spot for teams that are consistently good but never win the big one.

In seriousness though it grew on me over time given a number of factors: the USMNT links (also Friedel, Keller, briefly Yedlin and now CCV) style, club culture etc. and yea, a lot of it has to do with the fact that they're consistently good, and a big club, but that they were a cut below the Super Clubs. Being a fan of a ManU, Arsenal or Chelsea, or these days a ManC would make me feel too much like a plastic glory hunter.

But just to clarify it's been just kind of a steady progression over the years, not just that I felt I had to pick a team.

I can respect that. I tried to be a Fulham fan and convinced myself it wasn't just because Dempsey was there. I immediately jumped ship to Tottenham. Now I just cheer for the US players and try to watch them when I can.
