Dom uhl= young Carmelo Anthony

As in like a 15 year old Carmelo perhaps? Love Dom's progression this year but no. Carmelo averaged 22/10 and led his team to a national title as a freshman. Uhl's a good sixth man.

I was in NY during Melo's days. Melo was a much better player his year at Syracuse. Have to agree that Uhl has been maybe the most impressive Hawk with his development. Going to be a very interesting year.

Uhl could have the highest ceiling of any Hawk. He has the potential to be playing in the NBA. If he keeps shooting like he's been shooting, he will be a force because he has the hops, athleticism, length. He could be Iowa's go-to guy over the next couple of years.

He's due for some major regression from 3, but even if he settles in at 37% or so from 3, that's more than effective enough to pull defenders away from the basket.

Agree, he's not going to continue shooting at this level, but if he can maintain a high 30's or 40% rate he will be a very good player. The bucket where he took the jump step was a thing of beauty.

Other than the look with corn rows they are not alike. Uhl plays within his limitations and looks for his team mates more than Melo ever did. Good team player who is getting better and better each week.

Thank God some of you guys aren't NBA scouts. The bread lines are long enough.:p

Well, that's probably partly because he's also not one of the all time great scorers to ever play the game...just a guess.

Melo is a selfish player who has held back the teams he has played for with his selfishness. I could never cheer for a team he plays for.

A little over the top, but yes he may not be a guy who reall makes his teammates better, but he is an all time elite scorer, not someone Dom Uhl should be compared to.

I just said that the corn rows were the only thing they had in common. I pointed out some obvious differences. Completely different games.

Assuming the poster means the look and not their play.

Hopefully Mike G puts on some tiny shorts and becomes John Stockton

If Dom works hard to improve and expand his game, like JU has done, Dom will have a long NBA career, imo. Its all on Dom to become a serious offensive force (take his game to a much higher level) on the court over the next 2 seasons.

Dom is playing great this year and is a huge asset in his 6th man role. To expect him to step into JU's shoe's or Melo's next year is crazy talk.

Uthoff has the highest ceiling, and we are fortunate enough to be watching him perform at/around that ceiling while he's still at Iowa.

Uhl also has an extremely high ceiling, but I'm not sure he will ever be in contention for the Wooden Award.

Stockton, rodman and melo? This team just keeps getting better and better.

Of course mike would have to dye his hair black and uhl needs a mustache.

A fluid 6'9" that can handle the ball, shoot the 3, play defense, and take it to the hole - that's an envious combination of talents. Right now I think he much like Uthoff a couple years ago has to fight through tentativeness more than anything else.

As a basketball player, he is so very young - he just hasn't played a whole lot of basketball yet. I can't wait to see him his senior year, getting 30 minutes a game.

I get the comparison. On this board, everyone takes you literally, they can't process that comparing two players is not the same as equating them.

Fran has a nice system going on. Each year a new senior emerges as an all Big player, a junior is next in line and a sophomore steps up. That is happening again with Utoff, Jok and Uhl.
