I was reading a long obit in the WaPo, they apparently had it written already, and they mentioned that in the Dirty Dozen Sutherland was not the original choice to impersonate a general. It was one of the non white actors, and the director decided to not risk a non white impersonating the general. So, he looked at the crew in the back of the truck and called “Big Ears”, down to do the scene. Sutherland was so unknown at the time the director didn’t really know his name.RIP OddBall. —— Don’t hit me with them negative vibes so early in the morning.
Very good actor. Probably still regrets the Animal House deal …

I don't think he died poor.
Always loved this scene in Backdraft:Just a fantastic actor. I loved him in a lot of movies. One of his last performances was his greatest. "A Time to kill"
It was in the WaPo obit that he sat for hours and drank beer in Beerfest. He refused to use a mechanical siphon and insisted on the method acting style. He was a beer drinker so dammit he was going to drink beer!
I thought he died years ago.
Agree. I always thought he was just one cool dude.Just a fantastic actor. I loved him in a lot of movies. One of his last performances was his greatest. "A Time to kill"
Love this seen. It’s the perfect portrayal of how taboo marijuana was at one time. And obviously one of the greatest comedies of all time.
The Hunger Games were years ago.You understand he’s one of the stars in The Hunger Games.
