DOWN GOES #6 MARYLAND. IOWA IS BACK TO CONTROLLING THEIR OWN DESTINY!

For all you happy happy's feeling good...just remember we could have a 2 game buffer over had we taken care of our business Wednesday.

who says anyone was happy we lost at PennSt? ... we also realize that basketball is not exact...upsets happen but more so as has been stated over & over...BIG teams who have had much less success can be dangerous.

yes we are happy that Minnesota proved it by knocking off Maryland...which only helped us.

Wow what a game, i actually thought Minny had a chance before the game started. They played well @ Iowa and I thought if they could play with that same intensity they would be in this game. Maryland is a good team, but I am not picking them past the 2nd round. There are too many issues with that team and I guess the transfer from Duke and Carter were getting into each others faces during the game last night? Its great to have 5 star talent, but when they don't 'play together, you got nothing.

COME ON HAWKS< FINISH THIS!

The Basketball Godz are really screwing with us this year, especially this past month.

This has really been a crazy year. So many top teams getting knocked off. It's not THAT much different than normal, but usually there are 2-3 at the top that mostly avoid trouble. In just the last three days, the following ranked AP teams have lost:

#3 Oklahoma (to unranked Texas Tech)
#4 Iowa (to unranked PSU)
#5 North Carolina (to #20 Duke)
#6 Maryland (to unranked Minnesota)
#10 West Virginia (to #24 Texas)
#13 Iowa State (to #25 Baylor)
#15 Dayton (to unranked St. Joe's)
#21 SMU (to unranked UConn)
#23 Providence (though this was to #5 Xavier)

This has pretty much been the story of the season. March is going to be wide open. Villanova, Kansas, OU, Iowa, UNC, Maryland, UVA and Xavier have hung around the top of the rankings for most of the past 2-3 months (or longer). Some teams like MSU, Kentucky and Duke were up there early, but then went through extended slumps but are now very much back in play. There are probably 15-20 teams that could go on a run and win the tournament this year.

 "We'd be undefeated if we took care of business every game!!!" (Kicks kitten as it wanders past.) I got this weird rash, here take a look! Pacing the floor now, "Christmas and Candy and Whos in Whoville and happy happy's feeling good"

"I'll poison their water!" :D He said with a grin. And the Grinch and his experiment now did begin.
He made it taste good, like good water should. But he dipped something yucky into the pool. Something personal, vile, unmentionable, that turns anyone into a fool.
Just be glad that it happened in fact, in Ames. And despite the complaints, our Hawkeyes are winning basketball games!!!

You should be worried about IU not Maryland. Trimble is playing bad. Maryland has no chance on senior night in Bloomington. Purdue however has me scared tomorrow. For you guys , I think IU and Wisconsin will test you at home and Ohio and Michigan on the road will be tough for Iowa. If we beat Purdue , I think it will be a tie. What I really hope is that one of us only loses one game so that Michigan State doesn't back into a tie for the title. I cannot stand Izzo's constant whining to the referees and then smiling when his team gets ahead.

I'm not focusing a ton on Indiana at this point not out of disrespect, but because there's a game coming up between Iowa and Indiana. Either team could lose other games and decide the race, but with only 4 games to go, that game will give the winner a big leg up in the race between the two teams. If Indiana wins in Iowa City, they'll have the advantage from that game in the loss column, plus the tiebreak edge over Iowa. If Iowa wins, it negates the tiebreak Indiana currently has and would give them the game bump in the standings. If Iowa can get back to playing how they were playing in January, they'll have every chance to win 3 of 4. Indiana has a tough road with Purdue, Iowa and Maryland in the last four.....but if they play like they did at Michigan, they'll definitely win some games.

And Michigan State fans should be complaining that they'd be right at the top had they not gotten blown out twice by lowly, struggling Iowa. See, when you put yourself in someone else's shoes you'll realize that your ungratefulness is f***ing unnecessary.

Friends? :)

Yup. Izzo's winning is basically like tying up the competition and locking them in a container, and then acting shocked and grateful when he's declared the winner because his opponent didn't show up.

Would love to see the boys do 3 things I have not seen for a few weeks:

1. Stop waiting for something to happen....make something happen. They had this earlier and given the season is long they are at a spot where they need to force that level of activity again.

2. Move on offense. A bit related to #1 but in normal offense sets I am not seeing the sharp cuts, the constant movement, etc. We need to be harder to guard. Teams are more physical with us now and crowding us but we are in a mode of not working hard enough to free a teammate up or get free.

3. It starts with defense. I don't care if we are in zone or not. Earlier our zone with our length was great. Now we have holes. Need to have an attitude on that side of the ball. That will help jump start the offense with breaks after misses etc.

I love these guys and while there are some coaching tweets here and there that can help they need to collectively say "eff it....we are better than this and it's not going to slip away"

My 2 cents
