******Iowa vs Maryland Game Thread******

So Brock haters think this loss is on him, got a love it. Where was Dix, Payton was off, Ladji gave it his all, Iowa has no one to play the center position, that's on Fran, even if Riley had made the trip, I doubt he would have played enough minutes to make a difference. Fran needs to go away at the end of this season. Make it happen, please.

At this point..have to wonder if the 2$beer night vs Oregon will even be enough incentive for students to show.
I think the 6-pack in the dorm might be the better choice that night!

When Fran goes are you going to follow Brock at Augustana?

If a majority of Iowa fans want Fran gone, would you prefer that Iowa lose by 1 point or by 26, losing by 26 makes the decision much easier for Beth if she wants the men's program to become a better program going forward.
I was just being a smart ass. You know, trying to spread some smart-alecky positivity.

Here’s another positive. If Fran comes back, tickets are going to be really cheap next year.

And the university can save some money on the postgame clean up costs.

On him? Obviously not.

Does he belong at that level? Obviously not.

Bucky O'Conner, Ralph Miller, Lute Olson, George Raveling, DR Tom Davis.........Fran isn;t isn't even in the discussion for Great Iowa Coaches. Fire that M'fer now!, He is a POS person, and a terrible coach.

No one said this was entirely Brock's fault. He's just one piece of the puzzle, but he is a part of it. Get over it.

Fran, please tell us why Tadjo doesn't see the court more? Nice throw down dunk and seems to hit the boards. Kinda need the guy right now.

Tadjo looks the part. How hard is it to teach him to rebound and defend and block shots----those things comes natural to a great athlete. Not like Fran has to worry about finding PT time for his two boys anymore. What value is there in playing KIngsbury 9 minutes?

I don't think you have to teach him to rebound or contest shots. He's a little lost on defense but that's just the normal deal at Iowa.

He doesn't play because he doesn't fit into Frans offense. I have no idea why Fran bothers to bring in guys like him because they're never going to be the player Fran wants.

Not sure how you can go from about 6 down to 20 down in what seemed to be three possessions! Also, not sure how you can loose such a lead, and see extend to 30, but not feel the urge to call a timeout!! Braun (about the only player giving effort of D) was on the floor trying to not get tied up............... Fran stands over on the sideline playing pocket pool. Come on! He's not going to burn a precious TO on that! And then later in the game, the only player that has busted his arse on D rolls an ankle and is limping (while we have the ball) and Franny doesn't take a TO to get him to the bench. After another possession Braun fouls a guy so he can at least get off of the court. All the while, Frank is standing there with his fingers dug into his pockets not coaching. Send him to the train station Beth! It's time!! (btw- the only time I saw the coaches get worked up was on a possible flop call...........when they're down 30!) Turrubul!!

If Brock and Owen leave, wherever they go, I hope I'll be able to see them on some network, I'm an Iowa fan first and will always be. I've seen enough of Fran as Iowa's coach. Next year I'll watch Iowa if Fran is gone and Brock and Owen are still on the roster, if Fran is back and Brock and Owen are not on the roster, I may take a year off from watching Iowa men's basketball or until Fran is removed as head coach.

Justifying giving yet another scholarship to a walk on because he couldn't bring in an actual D1 player for that spot. Isn't this the third time (basically once ever recruiting cycle) that Fran did this?

I have been questioning Tadjo’s lack of playing time all year. It makes no sense. He is raw but his size, bounce and motor give us something to work with.

Do you honestly believe Brock Harding belongs in the Big Ten? I don’t fault the kid for any of this. This shit show is entirely on Fran. But Fran has recruited too many kids like Brock, who belong at a mid-major, and ends up being forced to play kids like Brock big minutes in the most important role on the floor.

It’s insane.

We give up and stop competing way too easily. That is a lack of leadership and toughness. Pryce was great in the first and the team probably played the best it has all year. Unfortunately a defensive lineup with both Sandforts cannot guard the perimeter and it showed in how many threes Maryland made and their ability to get in the lane.
Dix didn't compete. That is all on him. You dont have to give up just because your shots aren't falling. That is giving up on your teammates. He also lacks toughness. He is soft and tends to feel sorry for himself. What a consistent great player he could be if he had a coach that made him tougher.
This is crazy but I think are we are way better now with our four man rotation between Mulvey, Dembele, Braun, and Tjado than we were earlier with basically Owen and a little of Dembele. I thought the first half with Traore at the 4 that is the best we have looked all year offensively, defensively, and rebounding this year. That is our best rotation.

I didn't recruit Brock, Fran did. I don't care what Brock haters think, Brock engineered the first 4A high school championship ever for Moline High School along with Owen Freeman. he also started for Moline at point guard all 4 years and became the all time scoring and assist leader at Moline, he also is only a sophomore and is 3rd in the Big Ten in assists and is averaging over 9 points a game, so my answer is yes.
If Fran is let go at the end of the season, I guess we all will find out if the new coach whomever that may be, retains Brock or lets him enter the portal to transfer, but If he's still on the roster next year under a new coach, I guess that will answer your question from a more qualified person.
I enjoy watching him play, no crime in that and yes, I'm perplexed that Brock is not shooting more, whether it's a coaching decision or a lack of confidence, Iowa is not going to win with only Payton and Dix as the main scorers, and if you all think Brock is the only reason Iowa plays poor defense, you're missing all the other players that see the floor. Iowa has played bad defense for most of the time under Fran and that can't be disputed. Fran and his coaching staff has no clue how to teach defense or rebounding and that's a fact.
