Restricting capacity to 3100 at this point is ridiculous. It is outside, people can distance and wear masks.
Those who don't want to go, don't have to be there. Those who want to be there, especially parents, should be accommodated.
Many are likely vaccinated at this point anyway.
I hope Drake gets the heat they deserve for this.

I am sure that those folks who are responsible for making this decision did so trying to do the right thing. THIS decision was made 9 months ago or so....made on the best evidence at that time. It makes perfect sense to me...you take care of those who take care of you...and those long time Relays tickets buyers are Drake's bread and butter......There are "ticket exchanges" available where parents of HS participants can buy Thurs tix from Relays pass holders for the Thursday (HS) events...and many parents have accessed this route....But all these events are going to error on the side of caution for the most part....Call me all the names you need, hopefully it makes you feel better.....but name calling isnt going to change a damn thing......The policy you are pissed about was announced a long, long time ago.....

80% of the state’s 4x100 teams seem to qualify for drake. Seemed to be a way to build crowds.
The 3,000 is way beyond dumb. People go in and out depending on events all day at drake. They could easily allow 8,000 and have enough spacing.

They are only taking 48 teams this year.

The decision to social distance was made by the school... and probably in conjunction with Polk County. If you have a hard on with Drake, ask them. It‘s not that important to me other than I think it is absolutely wrong to deny parents the opportunity to see their kids perform in one of the highlights of their athletic career.

And, I think it is unnecessary at this point to restrict an outdoor event to that level.
You say a couple of months, but you’ll say the exact same thing in a couple of months.
And, the same thing a couple of months after that.

And, you’ll say the exact same thing about the vaccination rate as well. So, at some point some people and events will have to have the courage to expand things and let people see that basically nothing will happen.

Again, not true. Feel free to call Blake Bolden to find out when the decision on all tickets were made. Not even close 3100 people who purchased tickets last year chose to keep tickets for this year as you posted. I am done with you. My golf partner, who has attended the sessions of the Relays since 1970 kept had Drake hold on to his tickets. And, this policy was announced on local TV news when the decision was made... in fact one of the local stations has a link to a tix exchange on they lit website. Again, I’m sorry for your loss and hope you get tix.

Wish University of Iowa would run more guys at the Drake Relays. It seems like they have gotten a lot better at track but don’t send the full team to Drake.
