Was a baller when he played,,, 5th year senior love to see him go out with a big play. I see him on the sideline fully dressed out and everyone says he is healthy. Just hate to see a great player talented enough for the NFL sitting. Is it a case of to many weapons?

I've been asking the same thing for the pass three weeks as well. Hard to imagine that he's that far behind HKC and kittle

this is a problem, no bigtime tight ends like dallas clark or anything

if ever one of them had to step up, this Saturday would be it

Not sure if your first comment is serious? HKC and Kittle are playing at a high level. Additionally, if I'm not mistaken duzey suffered the same injury as Peter Jok, and it took Jok over a year to get anywhere near 100%. The fact duzey is playing suggests he wants to do anything he can to help this team in his final year and it's unrealistic to expect him to be anywhere near as explosive at this point in time compared to what he was prior to the surgery.

Wow tx I just heard KF say the other day that he couldn't imagine any TE in college football playing better than HkC is playing right now

A couple smart ass remarks here...I think it was a legit question. That catch versus Ohio State showed SPEED. Receiver speed at TE. I was really looking forward to him being a big star as a Hawkeye.

Is he still not 100% or were his early flashes fools gold and he's really not the player we'd hoped? I think that's a totally legitimate question.

where were the tight ends on the third down conversions last Friday???? greg davis is a tight ends guy

also, I watched the Indiana game saying we need more tight end superstars to step up

Thanks well said

Again, based on the injury and surgery required, it was unrealistic to think duzey would be as explosive as he was before the surgery, it's pretty remarkable he is even on the field. Jok suffered the same injury and it took nearly two years to really get close to what he was prior to the surgery. Tearing the patellar tendon is a lot more difficult to recover from versus an ACL tear as I understand it.

Morehouse has commented on this several times. He has played in every game since like Illinois or something. He said it was a bad injury and he won't ever be back to what he was last year.. Just is what it is!

Prior to the Nebraska game, I think I heard HKC had 12 catches in a row that resulted in a first down or touchdown. Our TE play had been very good this year. HKC and Kittle have done a great job stepping in once duzey was injured.

I agree they been ok but what the heck .....Friday? and, just ok does not cut against msu. again, we need superstar. and also receivers. I like hillyer but he's young

I don't think people understand how devastating of an injury this is, coupled with the fact it happened early this year in spring ball. Yes Duzey has been playing, but the real Duzey won't be back until well after he's done at Iowa. This injury takes much longer than some thing to regain form.

You'll see Jimmy Graham, who just had a similar injury this week, probably start out next season on IR. Jerod Mayo has been a shell of his former self this season. Victor Cruz the same.

Just imagine the stable of TEs if we had the real Jake Duzey this year.

We didn't convert on 3rd down last week, it happens sometimes especially in bad weather games. Our TE's have been much more than just ok in my opinion. Also, hillyer isn't young, he is a 5th year senior. There is a reason the conference TE award is named after dallas Clark...they don't come around that often. As another pointed out, KF has been very pleased with what HKC has done this year, not sure why you aren't too

well, this is where I admit to only seeing one game all year {start to finish} and it was the nebby game!! hee hee

I usually work saturdays

but I saw a lot of the Indiana game, some of the Illinois and a lot of the second half of the Minnesota game

Perhaps you shouldn't criticize or question a group of players(TE's)if you've only watched one full game this year? KF stated recently he couldn't imagine aTE in college football playing at a higher level than HKC. Kittle has been quite good as well. TE is the least of my concerns this Saturday. I'm much more concerned with our ability to create pressure on cook.

Go Hawks

oh and I don't ever listen to one thing kf says just like I don't listen to Obama or Hillary or jeb bush.
I think anybody who would hire greg davis is probably not worth listening to

oh, and I said we need somebody in the TE dept. to step up and become a superstar if we are to beat msu- agree? get a couple big first downs. maybe it's hkc. ok maybe. agree? who knows.

The Illinois game, ok, I step into this horrible sports bar in austin that always tries to not show iowa if possible. They see me, the one iowa fan, running in there on my break from work, they usually race to the channel clicker to change it. It's like 23-20 or something, 4th qtr, illionois driving, I'm thinking it's all over. turnover, we get three points, turnover again, three more points. iowa wins like 29-20, people start crowding me out playing pool and stuff.

I think I forgot to tip u for carrying my groceries that day.

yeah, actually I own a courier company in the worst traffic city on I-35. and I'm the only one working on Saturdays. I usually try and get away see what iowa is doing.

ok, Minnesota game, same bar: all they care about is ronda rousey. I'm saying , "yeah but is the iowa game on?" "I will pay the entry fee if I can see the game" so they are going, "I dunno, probably not"

HKC and Kittle might be the best TE duo we've had. We all know about Duezy, but we have no need to throw him in the fire when we have 2 high quality tight ends.

Agree, Coble especially has been clutch all season. May see him playing on Sundays.

If memory serves, watch Jordan Canzeri's long TD run against Purdue. Iowa was using a 3 TE set - Duzey was there.

Right now, my impression is that the situation is just as others have described. It's about explosiveness - Duzey is healthy enough to play ... but he still has a long road to grind out before he recovers his explosive speed (if he ever does).

Btw, it wouldn't surprise me to see them use Ike as a TE in short yardage situations.

Apparently he hasn't regained that speed....healthy enough to block ect but just hasn't regained the burst/speed.

You are right. It is very difficult to get back to 100% with a patellar tendon rupture. Sometimes it doesn't happen. The fact that he is playing at all shows that he is a baller. Go Hawks!

Krieger-Coble and Kittle are stars on this team. Anyone saying otherwise is acting dumb, hasn't been paying attention, or yeah... both.

This. Even if he sat out and was able to get a redshirt for next year he still likely wouldnt be the same player he once was. Sad too I think he could have had a nice NFL career.

Stick to conspiracy theories on the off topic board

Of CJ Beathards 14 td passes Kittle has caught 6 of them and HKC has caught one. Half of Cj's TD's have gone to tight ends.
