I don't get when teams fire a coach mid season. Why is it better than just waiting until the last game?
Maryland's football season is a dumpster fire at this point, and judging from what I read on Testudo Times, the current players won't be shedding many tears with him going.
Given they are under Armour U (or Oregon East) nowadays...getting the opening out there early is preparing the battlefield so to speak, plus the season could hardly get any worse than it is already.
My bet is the UA CEO plus other bigwig donors said get rid of him or we're pulling money out...

Exactly! With Ped State ebbing & Rutgers in the dumpster, it might be an excellent opportunity to get a foothold in the northeast.

1. believe it or not, there is come "talk" about the possibility of Chip Kelly. Kevin Plank of UA is probably the most "Phil Knight" like guy out there.
2. A friend of mine who is a season ticket holder said they have a commitment from a stud 2-way QB from Northern VA who has been actively recvruiting other area kids, ala Jake C. to go to MD.

I want the Maryland game bad. Edsall acted like a jackass last year during our game @ Maryland.

I think that at this point, it is all about trying to get the players to "audition" for a new prospective coach. Also, they're going to want to try to sell the program in the context of the "promise" of the next head coach.
Dang, I was just waiting to see what d**kish thing Edsall was going to have the Maryland players do this year when Penn State visits on Oct. 24 after last year's juvenile stunts.
Wasn't Maryland just, basically, bankrupt as an AD? Now they are going to throw out 2.1Million for next years salary?

Read an article too with the hope of the Under Armour influence with Plank can lure Kelly away from the Eagles after this year. Funny thing in the article it said there was a reporter who asked him about the players only meeting they had before the Michigan game and Edsall had no clue about it. One name being mentioned about taking team over for the rest of the year is Mike Locksley who use to coach at New Mexico and was a complete disaster there.
