Luka Garza sets himself apart due to this! You can just see every second he's on the court,he's focused and aware of everything happening! It's the first thing I noticed watching his hs play. He's not the fastest guy down the court but it's no less than 100% every time! Love this guy! On another note, Connor McCaffery is at least the 3rd best guard on this team. As much as I respect his choice, Iowa would have a better basketball team if he reconsidered red-shirting. No sour grapes, just my opinion after seeing one game, the over all stats and what I already thought seeing him play before this trip solidified it. Having him in Weiskamp's class also has its allure, but really think he, Moss and JBo are significantly better the the other 3 guards.

Love Garza's game and effort. And yes, Conor can play. But I wouldn't make proclamations based on the games in Europe. The competition was just not good enough to make decisions based on what went on over there. Garza will have growing pains once Iowa plays teams with legitimate big guys. As for Conor Mc, I don't blame he or the family one bit for finding out what he can do on the baseball field if he devotes an entire school year to it. He won't be wondering 5 years from now if he would have been good enough to play professional baseball if he had just spent more time on it.

Connor redshirting serves a second purpose and that allows him to play with Patrick 3 years instead of 2. I don't see him this year as an option barring numerous injuries.

This, and he will get the chance to start an extra year. He wouldn't be starting this year or next(barring injuries). Plus we get him as a seasoned freshman. He'll work out a lot of freshman mistakes in practice alone... We'll be much happier Hawkeye fans with the minutes he plays as a 5th year senior vs a few minutes he would get this year.

All very good arguments. Guess I just don't want to wait. Patience has never been one of my virtues. No doubt another year, will bring more seasoning to all those young bigs. My one concern is that not all we'll stay, if minutes are scarce, and that we lose someone who could eventually be a very good player. Should be a very interesting next couple of years. GO HAWKS!

I think it could be possible (not likely) that we never see CM play a single game of hoops at Iowa.

If he takes off in baseball and it appears he has a real future there $$$ why do anything else?
