Eierman to the UFC

It will be exciting to see the rest of his Mma arsenal. I suspect he will have an all around funk to him which makes for a difficult opponent. While he wasn’t a Hawkeye superstar, Jordan Johnson from Bett did go 4-0 in the UFC. He never gets mentioned here.

I can see Eireman being a very good MMA fighter. He seems like the kind of guy who will be able to take a punch - Thick chest and neck to absorb a lot of power. He also looks like he will throw a strong punch. Of course his mat skills speak for themself.

I enjoy watching MMA but I would never want my kids to.

Just too bad there's not money in REAL wrestling. Very few make a living, other than guys like JB for example.

These kids put their life and soul into a sport that gives them very little financially back.

Once again, fun to watch, but...

We’ll have no idea if he can take a punch until it happens. Plenty of brawny guys have glass chins.

It seems to me like wrestlers should focus mostly on developing striking skills when making the transition to mma. A wrestler who can strike can be trouble for most anyone.

Yes - Interesting look here at the career and life of a UFC OG:

I certainly wish Jaydin well, but I'd rather he (and anyone else) choose to do something other than MMA. Getting paid to punch somebody in the head, and take blows to the head, isn't something to celebrate. Once I started following college wrestling (4-5 years ago) I've pretty much stopped watching MMA. With wrestling, I can watch people engage in one v. one combat, but in a much less dangerous way. To each their own, but that's where I am.

With his funk I’m guessing he will take to the BJJ skill set quicker than most. Of course he will need some striking, but I see him taking to the ground and finishing the job there in the early going. Not saying he’s gonna run the gauntlet to a belt exclusively on the ground by any means but it’ll buy him time (calendar and his first few fights) until the striking comes along.
