A woman, who identified herself as the mother of one of those children, said in a Facebook post that her son is nonverbal and autistic. She accuses a teacher of forcing the children to eat hand sanitizer, putting bleach on their hands and pulling them by their ears.

The records from the police department don’t provide details of the alleged assault nor identify the person accused of perpetrating the abuse. They said the investigation is ongoing and no arrests or citations have been issued.

The district said the staff member, who was not publicly named, was removed from the classroom immediately and is no longer employed by the district.

The school district said it reported the allegations to the Department of Health and Human Services, Lincoln police and to the families of the students involved.

The district also sent a message notifying families of Beattie Elementary School.

“We take all reports seriously and investigate them fully with the help of Lincoln Public Schools Security Team, Human Resources, and law enforcement,” the district’s statement said. “We continue to work with law enforcement on their investigation. We are also working to support the students and their families, providing them with the resources they need. We appreciate those individuals who reported their concerns.”
