Ellingson and Bohannon

Fran is working Ellngson some at the point. Makes sense...Ellingson is good passer and obviously can shoot. He becomes interchangeable with Bohannon.

Also noticed Fran pairing Ellingson with CW....CW can cover up some of Ellingsons athleticism challenge on defense.

I'll go ahead and admit that I'm eating a big sh!t burger on these two. Thought Ellingson would get buried on the bench and Bohannon would not overtake Williams this year at least.

Good to be wrong.

I wasn't high on Ellingson, but he put his nose to grindstone and has made himself a better player despite his lack of quicks. Glad to be wrong.

Bohannon--I thought his FT shooting out of hs indicated he would be valuable role player but his play has been astounding. I think he is going to turn out to be the best of the Bohannons. He has good handles and quick release on his 3pt shot. Gesell was loved by many--Bohannon is light years ahead of Gesell at same pt. Bohannon also lot better than Jeff Horner as Freshman,

Ellingson coming along nicely and the freshmen are learning. Bohannon plays beyond his years. Hard not to look ahead and see great things for Iowa basketball.

Between the use of shitburger and players coming along nicely in this thread, who didn't immediately think of Lou Brown?!

Good for Ellingson, i didn't see this happening at all, so kudos to the kid for continuing to work his ass off for those that thought he should be playing at Coe instead.

As far as Bohannon, i figured that kid would be a stud, albeit not quite this soon.

Very nice games for both. Ellingson's floor play was outstanding. Worked hard and smart to get open, punished the defense when they doubled him or ran at him. The kid is definitely playing well. Has he ever missed a shot when catching cleanly off of a screen? 34 points on 12-19 shooting is good, 13 assists in the same period is pretty outstanding.

Moss seems a little lost lately but he's already shown a big upside. Perhaps his role is somewhat uncertain because his recent play shows a lack of confidence and focus. There's no reason to be anything but optimistic about the future of Iowa's guards.

Mike tried hard, he worked his ass off on defense, but man he held us back the last few years. If he developed into the player everybody (recruiting analysts not just Iowa fans) thought we were getting, a guy who could be a 15/6 type as a senior, Iowa would have been a top ten type team. Having a pg who can't shoot 3's, can't finish at the rim and can't hit free throws is just tough to work with. Bohannon isn't going to finish at the rim, that's fine, he's a big time three point threat, spaces the floor, creates for others and is a great free throw shooter. You can certainly work with that.

I was pretty happy when Iowa landed Bohannon. He's the youngest of a family that has produced what, 3 other solid D1 basketball players. I'm the youngest of four, you get your ass kicked growing up and always trying to compete with the older siblings. It's why he doesn't seem like a freshman guard out there. He has spent his younger life competing against his siblings who are also D1 basketball players. There's a certain level of toughness that grows out of that.

As far as Ellingson goes, his passing is what has stood out the most. He can obviously shoot it, but his vision and passing is fantastic.

I think CW has surprised us all in a bad way and Brady and JoBO have surprised us in a good way

I don't think Williams has surprised everyone, it was a big stretch to see him become a solid B10 pg after what we saw last season.

lets be clear....you certainly were on the bandwagon that was calling BE nothing more than a D3 player...were you not?

Love both these kids. Love this team. And of all the good things, the one I like most is the attitude. Unlike many Hawkeye basketball teams of recent vintage, these guys play with attitude. A nasty, in-your-face attitude, but they do it the right way. No ISU-style antics, just good, clean, old-fashioned effort and supreme self-confidence. Combine that with their skills and, well, the other team had better tighten up the sneakers. Gotta love it.

You know...I think once he gets that back healthy, he'll be a lot better player. I'd hate to pronounce a final judgment on him until we see him over a full yeah healthy.

I honestly missed the part of the game where he played today, but I thought against Rutgers he seemed to be moving better than he had all season. He was at least healthy enough to try that dunk.

my reply was not directed to Warner but carry on.
I am aware that your comments were directed towards HansenHawk, I believe I am capable of following a thread!!! Can you point out where I mentioned Warner in my post?

I just have a hard time seeing how a guard who has a shaky jumper and poor handle fits in today's game. He's shown he can be a solid defensive player at times but I don't think that's enough to overcome his offensive shortcomings

It is crazy how many thought BE would be transferring at season't end to free up a scholarship for Connor

Regarding JoBo, I had no idea how good he was; all I knew was he was Mr Iowa Basketball; I just trust Fran's ability to evaluate talent and hope for the best. He has been a wonderful surprise and you can't help but to love watching him play and his cold blooded shooting definitely makes me smile; oh, and at game's end, other than Jok, there is nobody I would rather see than BE or JoBo on the FT line

So who cares? He shared his opinion on Brady and then he came on here to correct his comments. I am sure you have never had to back track on a comment, right?

calling BE a no more than a D3 talent is not sharing...its bashing BE>

can you show where he corrects his D3 comments? which he said multiple times..then plays the Coe card...like he wasn't in that as well...

you want to defend go ahead

To be honest with you I really do not care if he was in on the "Coe card" or not. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and Brady Ellingson has looked for most of his career at Iowa like a D3 player- like the game is happening too fast for him. It is good to see Brady begin to settle in and play at a P5 level. I try to respond to the current thread and not go back through several threads to research what a certain member posted.

I realize you don't care..you have made that clear.
BE never played like a D3 player ..
.he played like a D1 redshirt freshman learning how to.
Calling BE's play like a D3 player is nothing more than a player slam...congrats on being dead ass wrong.

You don't need to backtrack if you don't belittle a player before arriving on campus, before they developed, or really ever....kind of like our football recruiting. Funny how you and Mr Warner are the 1st to stick up for somebody who talked crap about a 17 year old and now that he looks like a complete tool "he was just sharing his opinion"....maybe you 3 should do us a favor and stop sharing your options bc I am sick of the lounge being bogged down with eating crow threads and constant nagativity/stupidity

Congrats on being a borish, obnoxious ASS!!!

there we go..you are pretty good at it.. the Brady Ellingson D3 should transfer Club must really be stinging.

At least you recognized it .. the UNI guy tried to distant himself from the Coe playing ability group.

Calling BE a D3 is not an opinion..its bashing the kid.

First of all, I am not sticking up for Mr. Warner or HansenHawk. Second of all, I am "sick" of people who are unable to follow the context of a thread!
