Opinion = personal view. The result of an opinion can result in others interpreting the opinion as bashing. Since you are so good at researching the previous posts by members can you please show me where I put Brady Ellingson in the "Coe Club"? There are plenty of freshmen and RS freshmen who play that do not have the "Deer in the headlights" look during the game. Brady is not a gifted athlete; therefore, his adjustment time may be longer. In addition, it is not like OSU, Rutgers, and Nebby are the cream of the crop of the B1G Conference.there we go..you are pretty good at it.. the Brady Ellingson D3 should transfer Club must really be stinging.
At least you recognized it .. the UNI guy tried to distant himself from the Coe playing ability group.
Calling BE a D3 is not an opinion..its bashing the kid.
Congrats on being a borish, obnoxious ASS!!!
Thanks for pointing out my typo!!!And it's boorish by the way. I thought if anyone would know that, it would be you.
To be honest with you I really do not care if he was in on the "Coe card" or not. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and Brady Ellingson has looked for most of his career at Iowa like a D3 player- like the game is happening too fast for him. It is good to see Brady begin to settle in and play at a P5 level. I try to respond to the current thread and not go back through several threads to research what a certain member posted.
The truth can be insulting!!!I really disagree with your assessment. Brady is doing more than just playing at a P5 level and Fran does not hand out scholarships to players that can't play at a P5 level. Saying a player is D3 is really an insult to the player and the coach who recruited him.
You don't need to backtrack if you don't belittle a player before arriving on campus, before they developed, or really ever....kind of like our football recruiting. Funny how you and Mr Warner are the 1st to stick up for somebody who talked crap about a 17 year old and now that he looks like a complete tool "he was just sharing his opinion"....maybe you 3 should do us a favor and stop sharing your options bc I am sick of the lounge being bogged down with eating crow threads and constant nagativity/stupidity
Mike helped bring back Iowa basketball. He spent 4 years doing it. He worked his a** off. He graduated. Thanks to a player like Mike we can think about a big ten title someday. Yeah I know his shooting went south; and I know how many times he had the ball and everyone knew he was driving, the other players could of yelled "BALL!" Mike was a great Hawkeye. Let's move on and up.Mike tried hard, he worked his ass off on defense, but man he held us back the last few years. If he developed into the player everybody (recruiting analysts not just Iowa fans) thought we were getting, a guy who could be a 15/6 type as a senior, Iowa would have been a top ten type team. Having a pg who can't shoot 3's, can't finish at the rim and can't hit free throws is just tough to work with. Bohannon isn't going to finish at the rim, that's fine, he's a big time three point threat, spaces the floor, creates for others and is a great free throw shooter. You can certainly work with that.
It could be if it were true. I will let Brady's play on the court speak for itself. The truth can be insulting!!!
If the last 3-4 games are an indicator that Brady Ellingson has arrived then good for the Hawkeyes and good for Brady. The truth that I was referring to concerns his play last year and the first 15 or so games this year. I have no axe to grind with Brady Ellingson. It could be if it were true. I will let Brady's play on the court speak for itself.

This is Brady's second year playing. BJ played as a true freshman in a reserve role behind Andre Banks who happened to be the MVP of the Hawkeyes that year. Not really a good comparison because BJ was the starting PG his second year and averaged 12 points a game and 4.2 assists per game. I doubt Brady Ellingson will ever be in BJ Armstong's stature.Brady was one of the main reasons we beat Purdue last year. It takes some players some time to put things all together. B.J Armstrong didn't exactly light things up his 1st year either or did a number of other Iowa players sometimes until their Junior or Senior years.

BJ played behind Andre Banks, the MVP of the Hawkeyes during BJ's freshman year, thus his 7 minutes per game average. Do some research and stop offering up nonsense about whether BJ was ready as a freshman. In addition, BJ was a true freshman while Ellingson RS his freshman year, therefore, Ellingson began his career a year older than BJ. BJ played the number of minutes one would expect playing behind a PG that was drafted by the Houston Rockets.B.J averaged playing 7 minutes a game his FR year with a scoring average of 2.6. For a future 11 year NBA player and 18th pick in the 1st round, it would seem to indicate that it may have taken him a while to adjust to the college game.
I would certainly not compare Ellingson to Armstrong. I was just pointing out that it takes time for players to adjust to D1 even those that later become great NBA players.

Moreover, BJ averaged 12 points a game and 4.2 assist per game as a sophomore proving that he was ready once Andre Banks graduated.

We are talking basketball? BJ had a sidekick. MJ. wow what a superbowl. And how many years did Banks play in the NBA with Houston as the 5th round draft choice?
Does it matter? He was the Most Valuable Player for Iowa during BJs freshman year playing the same position that BJ played. Andre Banks led the Hawkeyes in assists 3 consecutive years. And how many years did Banks play in the NBA with Houston as the 5th round draft choice?
You are drunk. It's ok.Just read this, not on here much anymore.
I am not sure i said D3, or Coe or anything like that specifically. Maybe I did, I dunno exactly what I said. Yes, I did not believe he was a top tier D1 talent and Fran should have probably not recruited him.
More than happy to say I apparently was wrong, and good for him! Great to see. I will gladly eat the crow, and even have some seconds.
I think their were quite a few that didn't think he had the abilities to compete at this level. I saw a good shooter yes, but not much else that told me he could excel at the B1G level. Glad he is shutting everyone up! I would MUCH rather have it be that way than be right! I hope every player succeeds, bigtime! No one loves it more than me when they do!
That being said, if we constantly argue about the guys who pan out vs those who don't or transfer, we can probably go on forever about our player prediction hit or misses.
It's sort of like the political crap on FB, I am right and you are stupid, no, I am right and YOU are stupid! back and forth it goes. lol
I was clearly wrong on this one, and I actually feel great about that. Now let's see some others step up the level Brady is playing at!
I did think Bohannon would be a stud tho, never argued his merits or being a fallback recruit. It's in the genes with him. That kid is awesome, and quickly becoming my favorite player on the team. That kid is tough as nails, and it is gonna be great watching him over the next 4 years.
Cook will be fine, he just needs to find himself a bit. Kriener i like too and has impressed me a lot. I liked him out of high school and thought he was a great offer, many didn't agree. Pemsl has shown good things, I wasn't sure his body would let him compete at the level he is right now but am glad he is staying fairly healthy.
Williams and Dailey? I guess jury still out a bit? Moss has the potential to be awesome I know that.
I will admit, I actually haven't watch to many of the games this year, been busy with work and kids stuff and all that. From what I have been able to see, I know I like what I am seeing out there, it's more exiting ball than what we have seen for a long time. Hoping to come down for the Illinois game with the fam to see an illwhini butt kicking!
I will eat the crow on Ellingson tho. Now, you can continue hating on me if you wish, not a big concern. Like I said, we can rinse and repeat over every player on this pretty much. I know I stand out when i say something negative, which is fine. I have said more positive tho lately, and am trying to focus more on that. Every darn player I think has their poster list of "will be great" & "will be bust" list. It's just sort of what happens on here. There are a few posters who believe totally and are in positively on every darn player Fran recruits, but that list is probably pretty small. Most of us throw our skeptical opinions out there from time to time, or all the time. So be it, that are what message boards are for! I like to think I am not on that list so much anymore. Guess probably my biggest complaint these days is maybe we still need a true PG, and Fran has to many guys who are about the same size, playing the same position? I just think his recruiting style has changed because of his high level recruit misses. He can't afford to do that anymore. I think he just simply gets the best athletic kids he can get now, and worries about how to mold it into a successful team later. Still needs some deeper NCAA tournament runs till the big boys come calling. Also, I think it is unfortunate that so many view him as an ass on the court. Now, we know he isn't and most of the time is justified, but believe me, that sentiment in the general public is huge. I think that view people have of him really hurts him, especially on the recruiting level nationally, which is too bad. We know he fights for his players and his team. I get frustrated whenever something happens the mass public says, there he goes being a complete whiny a$$hat again, or whatever. I don't know how he changes that at this point. He did the right thing coming into this league with the terrible officiating, he fought for respect for his teams, and he had too. Anyways, could go on about that all day long too, sorry.
Glad to see you all still on here being active. Glad to see Bob is still fighting the good fight on the positive at all costs, other be damned train! lol. Haven't posted much on here for a year, but the guys never forgets, apparently. That's cool, I am a good guy in real life, a huge fan, just like he is. We are all Hawkeyes. I can move on. It's a new loving, caring Hansenhawk fellas. 12 steps. ha. I like this team, I like the future. Keep the talent coming in! Fun times! Sorry so long. Go Hawks!
