Enough is enough

Jamie Clark committed to Illinois after Cael left for PSU.

I posted this else where, but it is just as good here:

The fact is that prior to the Kem/Marinelli signing the top ranked recruit in Iowa since Evans has been Stoll at number 14 overall. Gilman was #16 and no one else was inside the top 20.
By rankings Stoll would have been the 13th best recruit at Penn State over that time and he would have been the 14th best at Ohio State.

Guys ranked 12 or higher that signed with Ohio State over that time.
Myles Martin
KeShawn Hayes
Tomasello
Hunter Stieber
Campalanato
Bo Jordan
Micah Jordan
Snyder
Haines
White
Pletcher
Kenny Courts- Lowest ranked at 12th
Chris Phillips

Guys ranked 12 or higher that signed with Penn State over that time.
Zain
McIntoish
Nico
Guilibon
Nolf
Nevills
Nickal
Cortez-Lowest ranked at 12th
Joesph
Hall
Suriano
Manville

Now Iowa has:
Kemerer, Marinelli, Warner, Lee, Teasdale, and Murin that are all ranked ahead of Stoll and Gilman in their classes. With more coming!

Plus, you can add Carter Happel and Kaleb Young who are ranked 19th and 25 respectively in their classes. That is Sam Brooks (20) and Cork Clark (23), which is what you want to fill in your "hole" weights on National Championship teams.

You guys do remember that you fired Zalesky because his team finished 4th at NCAA's. Now 4th place is what you aspire to.

Well Zalesky lost to many good Iowa recruits like 4 time state champs, Reither, Borschel, LeClere, and also Joey S. That was his biggest down fall imo.

Edit...Sorry about all the bad spelling of names lazy and still mad about Clark's match yesterday.

What in the hell are you talking about? Nato is a recently bumped up 125 that is about 5'1". Clark with a healthy shoulder easily has a strength and leverage advantage. BoJo is also a bumped up 165. Being bigger than Hall means nothing, everyone at 174 is. Moore is actually a tiny 197. Did you not see how much bigger Pfarr looks? Finally, Snyder looked like a little boy compared to Medberry.

tOSU won it because they came to wrestle as a team. Some phantom strength advantage was not the reason they won.
There is no doubt in my mind that a healthy Clark, without all of the missed time this season, is able to hold on for that extra second and win in OT.

I have wondered the same thing. I guess it has to be a right fit and some of them can get more $ elsewhere and wrestle right away is what I have gathered. Renteria, is prob a good example. Don't know exactly where he would have fit in anymore and wasn't going to get the dollar amount he could get at UNC. We did land Warner though.

My initial thought is the Illinois kids are not as tough mentally as Iowa wants them to be. A lot of them are suburban kids and they are just a bit softer. Warner is a small town kid and I think he fits well with the toughness Brands wants and the mentality that attracts kids to Iowa. IMHO

For the past couple years there have been more NCAA Div 1 AAs from 2A schools than from 3A schools in Illinois. 2A is smaller. Warner is a 2A kid. Brooks is a 3A kid.

The get in there and fight it out mentality is not as prevalent in Illinois as it is in Pennsylvania or Iowa or even Ohio. Maybe that is why they aren't either recruited or they are not interested. I am not sure why, but we sure have a lot of High School studs and they do not light the college ranks as much as we (those in Illinois) would think they should.

I would have to say though, if you can get the best out of Illinois or the best of the Young guns, go for the young guns. :)

If you seriously believe the OP was a rational post, you really don't get it. That's exactly the kind of baloney I was talking about. I think there's about a 50% chance it was a pure troll job, though, just to get a rise out of Iowa fans. Wouldn't be surprised if it isn't even an Iowa fan. Because it can't be a serious, legitimate post.
Wasn't rational? Perhaps not, but just the same, this team isn't what it used to be... True, there is more competition than when Gable was the coach, but the Hawkeye team isn't nearly as intense as a group as they always were under Gable. Nor are they winning big team points in the consolation bracket like they always did with Gable.
