Enough with Jordy

Pretty sure if he only played at iowa you’d love him. I mean you love jordan who probably doesn’t even know how to put on a jockstrap anymore
Yeah who doesn't love to root for a guy whose goal on D is to plant on a spot, then fall down like a bitch when someone breathes on him.

I wonder if PMAC might just as well play the 2- guard since he doesn't want to mix it up inside.
He handles the ball pretty well and is low turnover guy and he likes to leak out for fast breaks instead of rebounding/defending. He already is guarding perimeter players as 3, so guarding a 2 is not that big a change. Pmac body type is sort of like Mike Dunleavy, Jr, the 6'9 shootig guard/small forward out of Duke in early 2000's.

Kris Murray is more the banger, at the 3 you need to a guy willing to compete inside for defensive rebounds and and also play perimeter.

I also would like to see more of Kris, Keegan, Pmac together....Kris and Keegan end up defensing the post in that scenario, so foul troubles for both limits that option.

Sandfort is the other guy I'd lke to see get some of JBOs minutes.
Jordan's play has significantly regressed since last season. I love the kid but Tony Perkins in the starting line up would not displease me.

Illinois announced Alfonso Plummer incoming portal transfer 4/17/21

CJ announced he was leaving 4/18, so yeah, CJ screwed over Fran big time, but Fran never has shown ability to reel in high level Portal players.

Fran was supposedly family friend and gave a scholly go CJ a year early instead of having him walk on 1st year.....and CJ still screwed Fran over even though Fran had done a lot for him.......so that makes me think CJ was not in love with Fran's coaching style....or chances of winning any type of Titles at Iowa under Fran. I suppose the tampering and Kentucky being dream school made it a done deal.
IMO, players see the same thing observant fans do, nepotism and favoritism by FMac. Again IMO we will see more players leaving at the end of the year.

I’m truly depressed. I shouldn’t be surprised but this program is full of misfit pieces and it’s not working. Watch just about any other game and you’ll see multiple guards better than Iowa’s.

I know it didn’t intend to come across this way, but it reads like, “Well shit, since 6’9” Pmac won’t bother rebounding, doesn’t play defense and would rather pick cherries, might as well play him at guard.”

Kinda lets you know where this roster and coaching philosophy is.

Can we have the Fran and J Bo defenders just tell us now, that they will be forgiving Fran next year, because the team lost 2 seniors (who played major minutes) and the best player? Maybe J Bo could benefit from some rest? It's unreal how stubborn Fran is.
Fran isn't stubborn, he's an arrogant ass. Fran and Alford are cut from the same cloth, Fran just hasn't had a Pierre Pierce situation. Alford was at least smart enough to get some transfers in vs. recruiting low mid major guys and pumping them as multi-position scorers. You cannot find a worse group of guards in all of D1 hoops. These guys are playing two levels over their abilities and it shows.

Yeah, I'm not making excuses, just the point that CJF did screw him over.

Ha, you screamed and cried for Joe all of last year, now he's terrible too.

JBO Is 14/52 (27%) from 3 since the start of January. Can’t have a shooting guard that can’t shoot. If he’s in there for ball control then move him to PG.

a point guard that can't penetrate a defense is not a point guard. There is no luka to pass to and create offense off of.
The lack of shooting requires a guard that can penetrate when needed. There is a reason we don't shoot well from three, the lack of passing inside out.

To be completely fair, I don't think Fran thought he'd need a SG, until CJF screwed him last minute. It should have been CJF and Perkins.
Well considering cjf's injury history if he really thought that then he's completely stupid which is on par with the rest of his off season shit show decision making

It happens with bad recruiting. Joe is less terrible than the other options. I wouldn't want to get shot, but if I did, I would prefer a .22 over a .357. It's similar thinking.

The percentage would increase significantly if Jbo could make his wide open shots and stop taking terrible off balance ones in transition.

How's this bad recruiting doing?
I will give credit where it is due and tip my cap to Fran. Since you apparently have a lot of time on your hands, I encourage you to go back to my posts on Fran's recruiting of Keegan and Kris and see where I said both are tremendous talents and exactly the type of players Fran should be recruiting. You can also look back at my posts about Iowa needing a dribble drive threat at the guard spot.

So yes, Fran proved me wrong, but he also proved me right. He finally upgraded the athleticism at multiple positions on the floor and has multiple guys who can drive it. His in game management has been nothing short of spectacular the last 1/3 of the season which to me has had the greatest impact on the results. Fran still has his "guys", which I get, but isn't prescriptive about playing them over others if they are having an off night and another player is hot i.e. Sandfort's big time performance against Purdue.

Honestly, you should just take a break.
