Enough with the planned color games

I have no idea what the people around me might be wearing. I don't really give that any thought.

Also, Do you like being told what to do by other people? Just curious.

Let me see if I got this straight...... You don't have any idea what the people around you might be wearing so you start a thread criticizing people for what they're wearing around you. Makes sense..... carry on.

Do they say "look at the pretty colors"? No. Do they look at it and say "that's pretty badass". Yep.

I'm sorry, if you don't think one of these is more impressive to potential recruits than the other then I don't know what to tell you. And this is coming from someone who hates the Oregons of the world and most Nike Pro Combat uniforms.

The quality of photograph can really work well for your rhetoric.

Some of North Korea's card stunts are impressive. The fear of being sent away for reeducation makes for an attentive crowd.

Perhaps we should follow the example of Dear Leader. It is a matter of utmost importance to our Hawkeye Nation! We must not fail to demonstrate our undying devotion to the Black and Gold! Today, color coordination. Tomorrow, world domination!

Night games in Black and/or Gold are not bad at all! Especially when it is dark out at kickoff. You walk around the corner, coming off of Melrose, and see the stadium filled with black under the lights (yes, I barely make kickoffs), now that looks sweet!!

I have no problems with making the stadium look good once or twice a year. Looks good on the TV too.

Now, when you play the Cyclowns, it is a dumb idea. It is their Super Bowl. So much so, that they make the ticket prices as much as a top 10 game! And then they go off to win 3 games. LoL...

That said, reddish pink mixed in with Black & Gold, will not look good. Bad idea planners. Kind of like handing out red palms for a Wisconsin game.

Rosey Palms?

All Gold....black and gold stripes...blackout....

Enough....we know enough to wear our school colors.

It has a very North Korea feel to it.
Totally agree...I don't like people telling me what to wear...I had enough of that as a kid. :)

If I go to a "black out" game...I will wear white, or maybe blaze orange. Fight the power. :)

The team all wears the same uniform. So should you.

I am not on the team, and neither are you. There is no "nation" thing either that you "belong" to...you are a fan, you are paying $100 of your money to watch other people play a football game. Dress the way you want...

(I am just trying to help deprogram some folks here. ;))

Nope.

Next step is a gold tiger hawk logo surrounded by black on east and west sides. Gonna have to be seat specific though. And no Scalping.

Screw it, let's just make a card stunt of the water tower as white, and then everyone flips their card over and it gets painted black or gold

Love the gold outs and the stripes. The black outs can just go - makes the crowd disappear into the night and blend into the sky. Not intimidating, looks more like an empty stadium.

To be fair. This is one of the coolest sports moments I've ever experienced. And I was at Verlander's first no hitter, a world series, a Super Bowl and Stanley cup championship wins.

What baffles me is a night game blackout. You'd thing they'd make it a gold out.

Not completely disagreeing, but I'd have to say that the '09 Homecoming game vs. Michigan - the night game blackout with everyone waving gold pom-poms - was probably the coolest atmosphere I've experienced at Kinnick. Most impressive is that was back in the day when the "blackout" and "gold-out" games were arranged about a week in advance, mostly via word of mouth and message boards such as this, and weren't "official" designations before the season began.

Jeezes, man, Kinnick looks cool when it's striped. Other schools when they do their thing, it looks cool for them too. And as a fan, it's fun to be a part of that effort. At least for most fans. People get excited, the crowd gets jacked, and that can even lead to things like false starts that help the home team.

No one is gonna hold anyone else down for a forced beer bong, put them an appropriately coloured shirt, and make them have fun they don't wanna have.

I'd say it looked pretty good last night.

And we won the game too! What more could you ask for..........besides the water tower getting painted?
