Do you really think recruits look into the crowd and go "oh my look at the pretty colors"
No. I think they look into the crowd and think "Holy crap, these fans are really into it. What amazing fan support."
But that probably means nothing to them.

And if the atmosphere has been hindered it has had nothing to do with the color of the clothes people wear. Wow, are you that dense?
They didn't even sell their full allotment.

That and JR has a history of making stir the pot posts.Just because someone has a differing opinion of yours, doesn't mean they are a trolling.
Lots of recruits mention the great atmosphere especially night games when they commit. That atmosphere includes colors, card stunts and whatever else the marketing department throws together. No, but I've also never heard them say they are coming to Iowa because we can drunkenly coordinate colors.
Actually, yes. Ask Oregon how "colors" work with recruitsDo you really think recruits look into the crowd and go "oh my look at the pretty colors"

I never claimed it was hindered...I just said its stupid and stale. I don't think it matters for recruiting or anything else.
The OP is one of the tools who helped ruin HROT.
Texas A&M did the horizontal stripes in red, white and blue couple years agoI wish we would try horizontal stripes. Rows 1-20 black, 21-40 gold, and so on. Not sure I have seen anyone do it.
Man I wish I had that much power. I wasn't even on HROT for like 3 years.
I rarely troll anymore. BTW...I did give up my season tickets when Nebraska joined after 20 years of having them. I don't go to all the games anymore either.
Checkered should be next.
That's good news. I'm pretty sure you'd one of the types that I can't stand to be near at the game. Hyper critical, 2nd guessing every play that doesn't succeed, dead certain that we only run a handful of plays and yelling for a blitz on nearly every defensive down.
I, for one, enjoy the themed games. If you think it's communistic to ask fans to wear a certain color, then that's your deal. I have always felt that the university and athletic department have wanted me to wear team colors and/or gear to every sporting event I've attended. Is it that much more of a stretch to be asked to wear a particular color? The team, school, and other fans expect you to wear something that says "Iowa", "Hawkeyes", or the Tiger Hawk. Even though you're expected to "conform", which is what you say you don't want to do, you probably wear Iowa gear, right?
Serious question for JR: Have you contacted the athletic department to voice your opinion? If not, you may find that you can make some headway. If there's a general disgust for being treated like "sheeple" who must conform to someone else's ideas of what to wear, then maybe the marketing department will make some changes.
Either way, I hope this issue isn't causing you a lot of time and energy. There are more important things in life than what you (and others) wear to a football game.
I am not going to lose sleep over this one way or another.
The point is. I choose to wear it. I don't need them to tell me.
Good to hear this isn't a big deal to you. Hypothetical: What if you were to choose to wear black against Michigan and choose to wear black or gold tomorrow, based on what people around you might be wearing?
Also, did you have some sort of bad experience as a child that makes you opposed to being asked to wear something specific (e.g. attend a school with a required uniform)? Just curious.
Oh....well if it's not a troll then.......no, you're wrong.It really isn't a troll attempt.
The whole thing is stale. Is it cool once in a while? Sure. Every damn game? No.

I firmly agree. It's like how teams like Oregon change their uniforms nonstop. It's no longer unique when it becomes a continuous pattern. It's great to try and drum create some added aesthetics, but it's tiresome doing the same thing over and over again to the point that it's just routine. It really isn't a troll attempt.

I don't think the gold uniforms in basketball are overdone now, but it certainly seems like when I was a kid it really made it seem like a big game because they were quite rare at the time. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like they're worn more often now and takes some of the luster from it.
It's 2 games a season. 2.
Ya I know. I guess it just seems like a lack of creativity to fall back on the same themes. Do I have better ideas? No. I fully realize I'm in the minority, but I'm not one to always go along with the crowd...It's 2 games a season. 2.
I have no idea what the people around me might be wearing. I don't really give that any thought.
Also, Do you like being told what to do by other people? Just curious.
I like being part of a collective effort. Kind of like a team. Good thing the players don't have your attitude.
I've never seen people so sensitive about a subject...
