I had the chance to cover ISU wrestling as a sports writer for the ISU newspaper. During my time at ISU, Gibbons stepped away and Douglas came onboard. Bobby Douglas, to this day, is one of the most impressive, intelligent, and level-headed persons I have ever met. I always enjoyed talking with him in person ... watching his eyes as he studied to find his next words ...

Imagine as a college kid having college coaches like Douglas, Gibbons, Walden, and Orr calling your apartment? What a rush ... Also reminds me how much technology has changed how we basically do everything.

Douglas was and is a true champion of the sport. A great man ...

(I still despise ISU athletics ...but I respect the heck out of Coach Douglas) ...
