I realize most people want to play in the playoffs for the game and opportunity to be NC's. But just talking fan experience which is better Rose or the national semi-final Cotton Bowl?

Getting to cheer on your team in the playoffs will be a better fan experience than an exhibition game. But the flowers are good in Pasadena, so you got that going for you, which is nice.

Sure, getting to cheer for the potential National Championship game, plus the Big enchilada itself (Natl Champs) would be awesome, but there's a reason the trip to Pasadena is called
'The Granddaddy' of them all! What a great reward for this Hawkeye team, its coaches and fans, as well. #goHawks

The Cotton Bowl sucks. The ONLY reason it's worthwhile this year is because the magnitude of the game is enormous. Other than that, it has to be one of the worst bowls around. Who wants to watch a game in an NFL stadium in a shit city?

To be outside on a sun drenched morning, tailgating in So Cal with the mountains, beautiful surroundings, and the build up to the game, it's pretty hard to beat that atmosphere. Done it 3 times and have never been disappointed at the experience.

The in-game / pre-game experience will be much better in Pasadena. I've been to a couple of Rose Bowls (non-Iowa) as well as an NFL game in Jerry World ... no comparison. Jerry World is a cavernous, sterile monument to his ego.

Of course, however, the playoff is the driving variable ...

Arlington area around the stadiums is very nice and easy to get around.

There is a reason Rose Bowl tickets are going for far more than the semi final games. The Rose Bowl atmosphere is superior. However the National Championship game is by far the biggest.
National Championship Game > Rose Bowl > Semi Final Game> All other bowl games

If you're only going on "Fan Experience", no question Rose Bowl wins. AT&T stadium is an awful place to watch a football game.

Rose Bowl and it is not even close. We were already in the national championship playoff; we lost the quarterfinal game to MSU. Rose Bowl is a great way to end the season

I like att stadium.
Been there for college and pro games and enjoyed it.

Cotton Bowl is nice, but if you lose to Alabama, the season is a disappointment. The Rose Bowl is a much higher probability of a Hawkeye victory.

God sits on the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, and the Rose Bowl will be 70-75 degrees with a clear view of the San Gabriels from the golf course for the greatest tailgate experience you will ever have. 80%+ of the stadium will be Hawkeyes. The parade will be great experience, and there is a lot to do in Southern California from Disneyland, to Palm Springs...even Vegas is a 4 hr drive.

Unless the Hawks won it all after the Cotton Bowl, this is a no brainer
