Huge cuts coming to UNI, and you know it'll happen elsewhere without playing power five schools. Whether we like to admit it or not, these games are HUGE for FCS athletic budgets.

Talked with someone employed at UNI just Wednesday night. He did mention huge cuts if the Iowa-UNI game is off......

Hope things work out. Does not look good right now.

Interesting fact that I heard a caller share on the Sports Fanatics: The Spanish Flu originated on a military base in Kansas. But the countries involved in the Great War censored media from mentioning it because there were bigger fish to fry. Spain, a neutral country in the Great War, was the first to widely publicize its spread. The rest of the world then associated it with Spain because of this, despite the fact it was a global pandemic that started in America.

What’s great is I already know Cecil’s response on this board: Leave it to liberals to blame the SPANISH flu on America!!!! Why do you think it’s called the SPANISH flu moron? The problem is right there in the name!!!

The Spanish Flu was first identified in Kansas but it is highly unlikely it originated there. In 1918 it may have existed for awhile before anyone knew it existed. The fact is no one really knows where it orignated. There is no doubt that COVID came from China, the only thing up to debate is whether or not it was intentional.

So what are schools like UNI expecting during this mess exactly? A full contract payout as long both teams step on the field? Sorry folks that just ain’t gonna happen and if that’s what you expect, get some way better people cutting your contracts with big programs demanding full payout regardless of real world events. That’s not gonna happen either BTW. Like every other institution in the world, suck it up, make cuts, do what you have to do. Not sure why UNI or any other institution thinks they can have a free pass.

Does anyone know what the contracts say? I assume Iowa would typically have to pay UNI some percentage of the deal if Iowa pulled out under normal circumstances. No idea if there is a world pandemic clause but if Iowa can pull out with no penalty, that’s UNIs problem.

the issue isn’t just fbs. Revenue will be down across the board. Period. Programs and scholarships will be cut. Hell, the damn schools aren’t even running at full capacity but UNI wants their check. Ridiculous.

Btw why don't uni and teams alter their sched and play on Thursday or Friday? If people watch them and help generate TV money that'd help a lot!
