Of course I read it. As a first draft of To Kill A Mockingbird, which is what it was and how it reads. It was written first, you know. There are passages that appear in both books. There are important inconsistencies. Tom Robinson - as you're no doubt aware - was acquitted in Watchman. Didn't you laugh out loud when that was mentioned?
The manuscript for Watchman was returned to Lee by her publisher with a request for a rewrite. Her editor - who should get credit for her work - led Lee to the idea of telling the story from a young Scout's perspective. Watchman was a book that Harper Lee never intended to publish after she rewrote it. And rewrote it. And rewrote it. Watchman simply isn't very good.

Go Set a Watchman was a wonderful book. Took Atticus from hero to human. The book was actually a first draft of To Kill A Mockingbird. First drafts tend to be written first....but I'm sure you knew that in all your splendor
No. The behavior of the elementary school librarians picking books depicting porn indicates they should not be trusted. Many should actually face criminal charges.
LOL...I already covered the history of Watchman. It was correctly turned down when it was submitted back in the 50's and would have been turned down even faster today were it submitted as a "sequel" written by anyone other than Lee. Her name is literally the only thing that got it published. It's poorly written as first drafts usually are but does serve as a window into how her writing evolved over the many revisions.
You've been asked but I'll pylon...should a book that depicts nudity as our natural state, debauched incest with daughters raping their drunk father, a bear mauling young boys to death for teasing, the sacrifice of a daughter because daddy "promised", and uncountable numbers of murders committed during genocides ordered by the presumed hero of the book be allowed on elementary shelves? Yea or nay.
