Ferentz let down game?

I know I will get criticized, but is anybody worried about a "let down" game from Ferentz & company? It seems par for the course during a season that a KF team struggles/loses to a team they should not. I would hate for it to be under the lights at kinnick, but you never know? Minnesota will definitely be motivated by a lot of factors. If you ask me, Iowa has played better on the road than at home. I would HATE to lose to Minnesota, but I have a feeling that we will see a stingy Minnesota D.

I've always been a glass half full type of guy, I was just thinking this week that the Hawks are due for a real kick someone's ass type game, We have had numerous chances to hit some long passes and have come up empty on most of them, I think we may just start hitting more of them as the end of the season draw's near. We have played good solid football all year but IMO we have had plenty of room to get better, I think we will see the team continue to grow.
The OP laments a let down, I like to think we will see a team with a goal in mind and they will be bringing focus and determination to each game. But then again, I am an eternal optimist by nature.

Being ranked in the top 10 means the Hawks are carrying a giant target. Minny would love to knock them off. However I don't see this team having a let down game. They may very well lose a game that they are favored to win, but IMO this team's chemistry won't allow for a let down game.

Don't know how you let up when you are undefeated with a #5 ranking and the entire world beside your own fanbase wants you to lose.

I am hoping that KF/GD don't regress to their ultra-vanilla play calling to protect CJ or the sky could end up falling.

Yes, this. We are due to put an a$$-whipping on someone, like the NW game. Book it.

I'm a gloom and doom pessimist every week, but I feel good about this game. I think the offense is going to come together for a big win. That's what I tell myself.

Don't say that. I'm an optimist who has to beat himself up every week in case we lose. I don't need some doom and gloom guy making it harder to prepare for depression.

I think losses are easier for me then. I said Hawks win big.

I like the balance we have now. Ground and pound, control the clock, keep opposing offenses off the field, and wear down their defense.

From now on I just say everyone agrees with him and then maybe he will go away.. Yes I'm worried Iowa will get killed, jet sweep, gophers practiced hard, Ferentz let down.. You nailed it dude!!

I would love to blow the Gophers out but I think it will be close with the Hawkeyes prevailing. I would love to see the Hawkeyes clobber the Gophers. We do owe them after last year, much like they owed us last year for the year before. Floyd is coming back home.

Under the Lights. Only argument I need. We are not losing a game under the lights at Kinnick. Period.

Happens to virtually every team. Upsets happen every weekend.

Not a "Ferentz" thing.

To me this is the only way we lose. Minnesota can't score, they're getting a little better in the passing game but they're not gonna have many long drives or explosive plays that Indiana was capable of. If we score near our average 33 points per game we will be fine. But I'd love to piss pound them, and I'm certainly not ruling that out

Thanks for saying this - you beat me to it.

It's clear that if this team loses a game this year, it will be KF's fault on this board. We could lose the NC game in the last seconds and it will be his fault. He will be too conservative - he'll be the "old Kirk". His clock management will be terrible. Maybe he has "earned" this lack of respect.

It's funny to me that the board is outraged over national bias that exists against Iowa, because of baggage from the last few years. But our own fan base has the same bias.

There's always a chance.

Then again, there's always a chance Minnesota might not "show up" either. Probably an even greater chance.

Team that has 9 out of 9 solid to spectacular performances vs a team that has gotten their butts kicked in a handful of 9 games...you make the call.

Count me as another gloom and doom guy who is feeling good about this game.

I don't predict many games, and rarely predict a Hawk win. Why? Because with few exceptions, whenever I predict a Hawk win they lose.....Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Northwestern a couple of times....

So, even though I "feel good" about this game I will stop short of making a prediction. Not gonna tempt fate.

This was kind of my thought as well.
The rodents have been riding a wave of emotion over the JK thing and have had two tough games against ranked opponents. They played tough, but I believe it was all emotion. At some point that emotion wears off and you come back down to earth. I believe that happens Sat nite. I see a less enthused Minnesota team and a Hawk team that smells blood in the water this close to running the table. We will be ready and I see Iowa winning by two touchdowns...Minny won't match us in emotion this weekend. We roll and get ready to clinch after next weekend and beating our '"hated rivals"

Well put, 24.

The thing to remember is lots of subs are playing for them, and even though they've risen a bit to the competition, they still are losing the games. I think they will play hard-nosed football, but that team is challenged in several ways right now...sooner or later, emotionally that tank will empty sans results.

Get on them early and often and it might break them like what happened to Iowa up there last year.

I think that game already happened against Maryland. We won and the game was never in doubt but that game it just wasnt clicking like the rest. Maybe it was the 2nd half of riding it out but if Desmond King doesn't get that pick 6 (which was awesome) that game would look a lot worse. I wasn't disappointed but watching the game didn't feel as intense as the rest, which is why I think we got a "let down" game out of the way.
I think they will be ready for this game. Floyd is in minnesota, the team got killed last year. They should be motivated.

I feel like we already had our letdown game. Illinois .....if you could call it that... The difference is this team got the bounces they needed for the W.

This team is focused. 11-0 guys....

But not 12 - 0?
