Filling the empty stands @Kinnick

Winning will always put butts in the seats. But looking at the bigger picture.
I was a 10 year season ticket holder between 03-13. I bailed primarily because my daughters are heavily involved in sports which require weekend games that conflict with football.
That said;
Look at changes in Technology---I can buy a giant screen high-def TV for about the price of 2 season tickets between the 20's. I don't have to mess with driving, parking, tailgating rules, over-zealous police, crowds and waiting in line for 20 minutes to piss. I can walk to the fridge, make a sandwich during a commercial break and if I pushed it, maybe mow the yard at halftime.
I can also stream the game if I have personal conflicts, get near real-time game updates while browsing and maybe catch a couple other games while at it. Last time I was in Kinnick, I couldn't get a cell signal.

Win big and win with style points.
Take out everything after win and you are correct.

Fans don't care about all that stuff as much as ESPIN says you should.

Fans will show up to watch 12 one-point victories just the same as 12 blowouts, except the blowouts usually lead to people either not showing up (because of the perceived weak opponent) or they leave early.

As far as fandom is concerned, style points are overrated.

1.College students in for free and occupy the lower half of the South endzone. The big network is more than covering those ticket prices.

Make the stadium smaller, demolish part of it...sell tickets to the demolition...to be used to buy free tickets for people who can't afford to buy them, "because of no fault of their own." This will provide more fans to fill a smaller stadium.

Add a $40 per ticket "surcharge" to all season ticket holders, to help buy tickets for fans who don't have anything "because of no fault of their own." Well-endowed Iowa season ticket-holders have too much money and can afford to give some away to others so everyone is treated fairly.

Update the playbook to include downfield passes...

Offer free tickets to future games, for those who attend and watch an Iowa win.

Have games dedicated to cutting edge causes: Transgender Saturday, ISIS is like us, Gay Marriage Pride Day, etc. etc.

Have Donald Trump do a HALO jump on the fifty yard line prior to the Illinois State game.

Have Hillary do a "my favorite cookie recipe" bake off at halftime at the same game.

Game, set, match...sell out...

Fortunately technology can't yet reproduce the college football Saturday and gameday experience.... Now if Delta Dental and Pancheros release smile cam and burrito lift apps... we'll have no reason to go.... AND Barta and Co better update their resumes!

"Put a smile on your face..."

Wow, seeing the stands so empty while the band was playing was not good. Hopefully their are a lot of people getting food and drinks.
