Fiorina's $40 Million Firing Bonus

I read somewhere that Carly got a $40 million golden parachute for going gracefully. I can't vouch for that number.

How do you think that will play with the voters if/when someone starts hammering on it?

$40 Million for Failing. Good credentials for being president?
She did get fired but she in no way failed. Unless you think Steve Jobs failed twice. She brought her company through the tech downturn, stronger and in a better position to compete. In any case I would take the 40 million dollar parachute over the billions of dollars from questionable governments around the world that went to the Clintons. If that's the ground the dems want to argue from bring it on.

when they pay you 40 million you didn't fail. You won.

Carly Fiorina as a boss: The disappointing truth

Wow. That's pretty damning. And it isn't exactly a liberal smear, considering the source.

Consider this part of the article...

The lost shareholder wealth and lost strategic direction at HP are only part of Fiorina’s legacy. Also lost during her reign were 30,000 U.S. tech jobs, the company’s revered employee morale, and the egalitarian, humble HP way culture. A new defensive, finger-pointing style of leadership led to waves of firing. Dissent was equated with disloyalty as discovered by Walter Hewlett, a board member and son of HP’s co-founder, when he questioned Fiorina’s misguided Compaq acquisition strategy and refused to be bullied into a board statement of unanimous consent, suffering legal and personal threats.

Despite such carnage, Fiorina pocketed over $100 million in compensation for her short reign—including a $65 million signing bonus and a $21 million severance. I have studied comebacks from adversity, but she’s not shown the required contrition nor earned the needed exoneration, and she’s not served as a CEO since. Upon leaving Taiwan Semiconductor’s board, the firm disclosed she only attended 17% of the board meetings. Under Meg Whitman’s brilliant leadership, HP’s character and performance have recovered, but we have not seen Fiorina’s parallel resilience just yet.

I wonder if the attacks would be occurring if she was a Democrat. Wildly successful businesswoman running for President and all that.

Oh...she's republican? We must tear her apart. Because she obviously didn't earn a penny of it.

Not a bad question.

I suspect there would be attacks either way. But which would be hurt most? Imagine Fiorina was running as a D. Which is easy enough to do because she hasn't said much about her positions on issues other than regurgitating a few of the standard bumpersticker memes - which she delivers with zero sincerity.

So . . . would the D Fiorina be hurt as much by these arguments as the R Fiorina? More? Less?

Hi, My name is Carly Fiorina. I was CEO of HP. I think we need a president who knows how to run America like the big corporation it is. I know more than any candidate from any party about how to run a giant corporation into the ground.

Hi, My name is Donal Trump. I am CEO of Trump, Inc. I think we need a president who knows how to run America like the big corporation it is. I know more than any candidate from any party about how to drive a giant corporation into bankruptcy, multiple times.

How is either of these pitches winning voters?

Of course those are valid points. So is questioning Hillary's credentials too. So is questioning anybody's credentials, as long as the proverbial shoe fits.

And let's face it, she is a wildly beyond any of ours' dreams successful.

Personally, I think Carly's going to get hit because Fox News likes her. She has no chance in hell of winning even if they don't start lobbing grenades at her...but since FN likes her, she must be taken out now before she picks up any steam at all. They absolutely cannot have her grab any portion of the women voters from Hillary's camp. They just have to be very careful as to not attack the fact she is not qualified because she is a woman.

Come off as abusing her because of that and you are exactly what you accuse republicans of being.

Well, let's face it, she wouldn't be moving up in the polls if Fox hadn't designated her as the winner of the matinee debate, and continued to push her hard since then.

I suspect she'd rather have the bump and the attacks than just fade away.

She can still prove herself a worthy candidate if she ever comes up with some good policy ideas.

No one is likely to start attacking her because there is no upside to doing so. She's not a viable candidate. If you try to drag her through the mud you'll end up with mud on yourself as well. Best to just let her continue to be a non-factor.

Yep. She'll get kid gloves until she starts showing tangible strength that can hurt Hillary.

Our politicians have a golden parachute for their failures...

Oh, it will come long before that - IF she becomes a top contender in the GOP field - and it will come from her own party.

But will she get that high, even with Fox's help?

She's a woman.
She's a failed businesswoman.
She doesn't bring any battleground state to the table with her.
She has yet to look likable.
She couldn't even beat aging ultra-liberal Barbara Boxer.
She cheated on her first husband and slept with her boss.
She has no kids.

Sure some of those are unfair or even hypocritical, but they are still vulnerabilities. And I'm sure the pros will find more.

OTOH, if she survives harsh attacks in the GOP primaries, they probably won't hurt her with similar attacks in the general.

Hi, I'm Hillary Clinton and I've lied to you and will likely end up in jail, but please vote for me. My biggest accomplishment in life is marrying Bill and I've rode his coattails in every public job I've had. But, foreign countries pay me $500K per speaking engagement because I was such a great Sec of State.
Hi, I'm Bernie Sanders, and I was a failure as a businessman so I decided to get into public office where you don't have to be very bright about economics. Oh, and I'm a socialist.

Yep, those pitches are going to attract voters.
