Fire every hawkeye beat writer, jfc guys

You can’t tell fans, any fans, this kind of stuff anymore because they just pile on. Geez I wonder why coaches try to be vague
Counterpoint: If Kirk didn’t make the Chinese government look transparent, maybe people wouldn't make up their own version of the story.

Whether we like it or not, this is the reality of the times we live in.

This is spot on. Every minute the Turtles spent preparing for McNamara has been wasted. It may be significant, it may be insignificant, but either way it can't hurt Iowa and it might help Iowa.

Do you think people are getting dumber as a rule? I’m serious here. I’m literally shocked what people expect, how they process, how they project. I’m certain we weren’t this dumb even 20 years ago🤷‍♂️

The full 8 paragraphs for those who refuse to open up the tweet:

Matt Weitzel, Associate AD for Strategic Communications, provides further information on Cade McNamara and Jermari Harris not playing at Maryland, and saying the hope is both play against Nebraska:

"Cade McNamara has not been cleared to play against Maryland. His status was a topic of discussion during Tuesday’s weekly news conference. In reviewing the transcript and the Q & A, Coach Ferentz misstated that Cade had been cleared to play. He had been cleared to practice.

Q. Cade being back at the top of the depth chart, has he been cleared, and if so --

KIRK FERENTZ: Yeah, I wrote that on Sunday. He practiced Sunday. Everything is cloudy right now. That's kind of our forecast. It clearly is cloudy right now. Everything is. We'll just take it day by day and see who can go.

Q. I wanted to get some clarity with Cade. You said he practiced Sunday. Did he have a setback or is he still in that process of coming back?

KIRK FERENTZ: Still processing back. He has been cleared to play, and whether or not he can play effectively or not, we'll see. We'll just see how the week goes. But we're prepared for anything, quite frankly.

The second player of interest is Jermari Harris, who will not play in Saturday’s game due to a medical issue.

We hope all of our student-athletes can play next week in our regular season finale at Kinnick Stadium; however, a player’s health and wellbeing are always our top priority."

David Eickholt, a Hawkeye beat writer for 24/7, posted a tweet at 2:48 pm CT on Nov 22, where he linked his story titled “Iowa Football: Jermari Harris opts out of 2024 season.”

In his tweet, which is also still up, he wrote this:

Sources have informed 247Sports that Iowa CB Jermari Harris has opted out of the remainder of the 2024 season in preparation for the NFL Draft.

He finished the year with three interceptions and seven pass breakups.

Story:

Hell this site has a story about him opting out. "Multiple sources" which in all likelihood means posters in other threads.

Bingo…. and as a result, we have 100 people either blasting Harris and cade’s character or blaming the coaches for losing the team.

That’s a snapshot of social media and how useless and borderline evil it has become

So why exactly is it Kirks or any coaches job to make FANS aware or injuries. The only reason that comes to mind is sports betting. Are the fans supposed to need time to plan their lineups if another injury occurs during the game. Do we have some input that makes are inclusion necessary? Some of these fall under Hippa guidelines and frankly we don't need to know anyway.

Gets mad about people jumping to conclusions.

Jumps to conclusions.

I have a feeling there are things none of us know at the moment. I say this without knowing.

I do know this. The Iowa v Maryland is essentially inconsequential, but I will love seeing the Iowa Hawkeyes play football.

Fans don’t have a right to a player’s health situation or injury recovery status.

How about when the writer got the OSU defense all fired up after K2 had barely said anything? That one was genius
