So you need your coach to get a technical and stare down a ref to provide inspiration to hit your shots?

Sometimes in basketball, a coach needs to get on the officials @ss to light a fire, it’s been going on for 100 years. Sometimes the ref deserves because he’s a cheating sob, like Ted Valentine used to be.

I'm in the camp that college coaches over coach ( in game) and can be embarassing . So I can't defend Fran...ever. He can be the epitome of everything I hate about college BB coaches.
Idk, I don’t believe ive ever seen another coach stare a ref down in that manner b4. I was laughing, whether it lit a fire under the team idk, but fran 100% looked like a bafoon trying to mean mug the ref like that. Rather comical

I don't think Fran is a bad guy. I think he has a problem with self control in these game situations. If he had made contact with that official 10 years ago, we would have a different coach now

I think Hoiberg could be COY with a couple of wins. He has done a fantastic job with these “no names” the back half of this season.

Good Lord. Go back to page one of this thread and view JR Koch's quote, (a guy who played at Iowa, and has a son who is committed to Iowa), and then read Slim45's post again. He was obviously referring to JR, and not to himself. Now we have no idea what JR meant exactly. Was he saying he just didn't know what to say to that type of behavior? (Kind of the way I orginally took it). Did he mean that Fran simply said nothing?
I liked the stare down. Got a laugh out of it and seeing Izzo nose to nose with an official screaming at him is no different. Other than Fran would have been ejected. As long as his tirades aren't physical I'm ok with a stare down or the occasional outburst
