But look at the bright side, by going .500 in the BTT this year, Fran significantly improved his all-time BTT record.

How differently would we view the Fran era if he managed to make a few sweet 16s?

Lots. We were all pumped up when we had those chances. Fans complained about the seeding and other things. You have to just go out there and be ready to play. And win.

I certainly don’t think he deserved to be ejected. He said he got the first one for pointing out the foul discrepancy. Nothing wrong with that. Larry Sabato always has it in for the Hawkeyes. He is terrible. Though Illinois was the more physical team they shot 31 free throws to our 8. Any coach would be pissed about that.

I’d say “thanks for the memories,” but besides some individual player accolades, team memories are made in the NCAA tournament, which are missing from the 15 year Fran era.

Memories were made, they just weren't good ones.

If that Big Ten Tournament championship team would have made the sweet 16... Most of the fan base would be ok giving Fran another shot next year.

Instead we've seen the PEAK of Fran ball and it's a RARE 2nd round exit from the NCAA tournament.

I would view him as minimally competent, since just about every coach in the history of basketball who has coached a team in a major conference for 15 years has accidentally made a few sweet 16s. However, this is reality, and he is way more than worthy of termination.
