Hell yes. Providence #49 in KenPom, Richmond #83.
PG is the all time NCAA steals leader. Their center acts like a point guard at times, but isn’t a shooter. He also didn’t strike me as super physical or fast in their game vs Davidson. What is the Richmond scouting report?
Keep their PG to 18 or less and we move on to play SDSUWhat is the Richmond scouting report?
Thanks for the analysis. Sounds like a fast paced game for the hawksPG is the all time NCAA steals leader. Their center acts like a point guard at times, but isn’t a shooter. He also didn’t strike me as super physical or fast in their game vs Davidson.
Top ten in offensive turnover percentage so they don’t turn it over. Not really a good shooting team. Super experienced. I think a lot of their guys are 5/6 year guys.
Better offensively than defensively.
Like this matchup a lot.
ShockedYah. Fantastic.
Iowa just won 4 games in 4 days and beat the #9 team in the nation to win the Big Ten Tournament. Their reward?
Play on Thursday. Halfway across the country in Buffalo, NY.
Meanwhile, #11 seed Iowa State plays in Milwaukee.
Iowa has a good case for a #3 seed, and an excellent case for a #4. So, of course, they get a #5.
Matchups may not be bad, but the seed, location, and travel are typical NCAA bullshit. IMHO.
BTW: While I'm at it, having Greene AND Boroski ref the championship game today just shows what a crock the BIG is. Two of the worst refs in basketball, and the two most anti-Iowa refs in the country. So, naturally, they work the title game. And they did their best to give it to Purdue, but this Iowa team is just too damn good and too damn tough. Screw the BIG. Yes, I'm celebrating by being ticked off. Deal with it.
Playing on Friday instead of Thurs after 4 in a row would be better, but I do like our path to the FFThis couldn’t be any better on paper. Now go win it Hawkeyes!!!!
SDSU is a team who can hang around with 3s but I can't see how they stop this offense.Keep their PG to 18 or less and we move on to play SDSU
I agree, Thursday game is just fine with meYou know what? Screw rest! This Iowa team is red-hot and they will be ready to go on Thursday!
Ironically that Vanderbilt team lost by 21...I went back through KenPom's data for previous seasons - Providence is the weakest 4 seed by KenPom rating since Vanderbilt in 2008.
Agreed - Prov (or whoever) should be VERY afraid that we are in their Pod!You know what? Screw rest! This Iowa team is red-hot and they will be ready to go on Thursday!
ISU and MSU I believel.I wonder if the Big 12 Tourney champ and Big Ten Tourney champ have ever been in the same half of the same bracket before...
Do we ever lose against Kansas. I think its witchcraft or something. We seriously could not have asked for a better draw. Admittedly, I haven’t seen a Richmond game, but we should absolutely beat Providence, and Kansas is pretty much the ideal 1 seed matchup too
I think they stopped scheduling us lol.Do we ever lose against Kansas. I think its witchcraft or something.
Yup, they got steam rolled by So Cal last year as well!Hell Kansas is very beatable. It’s like the bracket gods gift-wrapped Iowa the perfect bracket.
Maybe so, BUT should they escape the first weekend they'll be in Chicago and that would be off the hook for all those Hawk fans roaring down I-80. Survive and advance boys. Time to dance!Yah. Fantastic.

why? It's fun and harmless to play the what-if gameone game at a time!
One of the announcers on the selection show picked Providence to beat Iowa (if the matchup happens), so Providence must be pretty good.We seriously could not have asked for a better draw. They are good and senior laden, but their best player is that Ali Durham guy who used to be at Indiana… I never thought he was great. They also only run 8 deep and are undersized, which makes them a good matchup for the Murray Boys and CoOne of the announcers on the selection show picked Providence to beat Iowa (if the matchup happens), so Providence must be pretty good.
Seth Davis, he was picking against almost every B10 teamOne of the announcers on the selection show picked Providence to beat Iowa (if the matchup happens), so Providence must be pretty good.
