Flipping fantastic draw

What is the Richmond scouting report?
Run a modified Princeton offensive, they have 6 graduate players on their roster of which 3 of them start. Not extremely tall but they try to control tempo. A very experience team, they will fight us to the end, not as easy of an opponent as I would have liked.
Think Pete Corell.
Iowa has to impose their will on them early...

One of the announcers on the selection show picked Providence to beat Iowa (if the matchup happens), so Providence must be pretty good.
Seth Davis, didn’t seem to like anything about the BIG Teams. He’s been that guy that’s usually has a negative vibe for the BIG. He really doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things.

It’s because the Big Ten sucked in March last year and sucked in non-con this year

This Iowa team isn’t built like other Big Ten teams, however, and just won their conference tournament championship by nearly double digits. We can actually make a run

I noticed he was being a negative dick about the big 10 too. What a ****stick. Hope we make him eat it.

Well, they were the #1 seed in the Big East Tourney, so obviously they're good. I just find it a little odd that some dude would pick a team that has not been playing well recently (5 losses all season, but 3 of them in the last 7 games; best win was 3 months ago @UConn) to beat one of the hottest teams in the country who just won a Tourney with 9 NCAA teams. Don't know who he was, but my guess is that he's a Northeast guy who started liking Providence in January when they were a media darling and is sticking to his guns. If that matchup happens, I'll bet Iowa is an 8-pt favorite.

Yah. Fantastic.

Iowa just won 4 games in 4 days and beat the #9 team in the nation to win the Big Ten Tournament. Their reward?

Play on Thursday. Halfway across the country in Buffalo, NY.

Meanwhile, #11 seed Iowa State plays in Milwaukee.

Iowa has a good case for a #3 seed, and an excellent case for a #4. So, of course, they get a #5.

Matchups may not be bad, but the seed, location, and travel are typical NCAA bullshit. IMHO.

BTW: While I'm at it, having Greene AND Boroski ref the championship game today just shows what a crock the BIG is. Two of the worst refs in basketball, and the two most anti-Iowa refs in the country. So, naturally, they work the title game. And they did their best to give it to Purdue, but this Iowa team is just too damn good and too damn tough. Screw the BIG. Yes, I'm celebrating by being ticked off. Deal with it.

You are not wrong!!

We don't need the refs ;)
I'd bet a grand if I thought id get paid.

I read prov is favored by only 2 if so I might have to make my first online bet

I wonder if the Big 12 Tourney champ and Big Ten Tourney champ have ever been in the same half of the same bracket before...
I honestly do wonder if Iowa winning actually changed anything. Being the last game to finish for the regular season, I picture the majority of the room already assuming Purdue would win. Then at the deadline Iowa takes it, and the entire room says, 'hey, they probably should be a 4, but do you guys wanna just wanna call it good since we have like 5 minutes to turn these in?

If there were a poll tomorrow where is Iowa ranked? Definitely not where they're seeded. But oh well, seems like an accidentally good draw anyways.

This is a good draw. Providence just lost to Creighton by 27. The sweet 16 is there for the taking. Iowa will be favored in every game they play except for Kansas and they're probably the weakest 1 seed out there.

You can always tell it's tourney time if Seth Davis is bashing the B1G. When there are 4 or 5 B1G in the sweet 16 you won't hear a peep from him.

I watched portions of the Richmond vs Davidson game and from what I saw, their guard #0 Gilyard was the straw that stirs the drink. Checked the stat sheet, be had 26 pts in 40 minutes. He’s a better 3 pt shooter than Ivey, but I think Perkins is up to the challenge.
Providence will have their hands full with SDSU IMO. Not a good look that Creighton just wiped the floor with them.

The path to sweet16 looks reasonable---Iowa just needs to avoid chitting the bed and hope the other teams don't play above their pay grade.

Facing the 4th seeded team to get into Elite8 doesn't seem like an easy path to Elite8, but I guess it was unavoidable based on Iowa's low seeding.

If I was Kansas, I wouldn't be happy with the matchup either.

Where is Buffalo in the midwest?
