I will break it down for you. There is a very high number of bad asses returning! Obviously, some of this is due to the covid year that still stings me as the HAWKS were rolling like a run away freight train!

There are a number of Wrestlers that could become 4 timers, none as bad as our own Spencer Lee!

Spencer is great…..no doubt. Fun to watch!

But I’m gonna go out in a short limb here and just say that any 4x’er is probably an exceptional, bad ass, wrestler.
Obviously any 4x'er is a bad ass! Hell, any guy who even wins one is a bad as in my book, and there are 1000's who never won a NCAA title who are also pretty bad ass dudes themselves!

All that being said, Spencer Lee goes WAY beyond! We have watched greatness that is very rare to see, and he has done just about all of it at less then 100%. No one making any excuse because we know they are for wussies!

Just the facts, he has pretty much destroyed the very best without being able to train at full speed, He won a NCAA title with TWO torn ACLs. Lee is doing things that do not seem possible! I do not know if I would pick ANYONE to do what he has done already.

You can name all the best Wrestlers you can think of. Do you believe any could have won a NCAA title with two bad knees? I for one would not pick any to accomplish this! Maybe someone like Dan Hodge could have done it or other great Wrestlers from a little ways back, but in the modern era where the training and techniques are where they are!?!?!?!

We are most likely looking at the greatest Wrestler of our lifetime, and if someone comes along better then him. I sure hope he is a HAWK also!!!

Yianni tore an acl at the ncaa tournament and went on to beat a 2x champ in Heil, eirman and Meredith.

but did he have 2 torn acl's?
There has been some incredible Wrestlers who did have injuries that would make us humans more then likely not even step on the Mat. Yet they somehow were able to compete and win. I believe IOWA had one, if memory serves me correctly right now? Big time Wrestler who tore up his knee before NCAAs and went on to win.

As posted above, once again, I have never; ever; heard of someone doing it with 2 torn acl's. Also, I think you can say. He was never in jeopardy of losing at anytime!

I pray that both knees are strong again and we all get to see the real MONSTER that is Spencer Lee. I almost feel bad for anyone he faces!

I always love it when people argue about whose disability was greater. Like a bunch of retirees.
Not even sure what this means? Who is arguing about anything? LEE won the NCAAs with TWO torn ACLs. Very simple, not only would I think this to be impossible! I never even heard of a Wrestler trying to compete in such condition.

As stated, I have heard of Wrestlers overcoming injures and going on to win, with Yanni D being the latest in that group. An amazing accomplishment no doubt! Could any of them do it if BOTH knees were injured? I highly doubt it.

I do not believe you can make an argument about which is a worse situation 1 knee or 2!?!?!?

Did Spencer have 2 torn acl's though. He tore one at big 10's and the other he hurt a few years prior, he def did not tear both at big 10's and then went to NCAA's. Also, he had losses while healthy in college to C-bass and Piccinini

He was already competing with one torn ACL before he tore the other one in the Big Ten finals.

He wasn’t “healthy” when he lost to Rivera or Piccinnini. When relatively healthy, he dominated both.

‘19 Sophomore year - mono like sickness. Tore acl in finals.
‘20 Junior year - healthy all season wrestling on torn acl from end of prior season. NCAAs canceled!!!
‘21 Senior year - short season wrestling on 1 acl. Tore other acl at Big Tens.
‘22 Hardship year - did not wrestle much. ‘23 COVID make up year - coming off double acl surgery.

So, I guess the excuses are for wusses does not apply to his losses? Only applicable when he wins? Spencer will go down as a great, but behind Cael, Dake and likely Yianni.

Slight correction. He tore his ACL his sophomore year wrestling JackMueller in the finals.

It’s crazy to think that Spencer has only been “healthy” for about 9 months during his time at Iowa. From the end of his Freshman year till about Mid December of his sophomore year. It’s even more incredible when you consider the level of domination he’s sustained.

I think it’s safe to say that Spencer is a 1 of 1. Unicorn.

Your are referring to Picc catching him? Picc isn't on the same planet as Lee.

Yes, catch or no catch, Spencer got pinned. Nobody is saying that he is even in the same universe, but he did pin him. Just pointing out that while Spencer is great, he is not and never will be the greatest as there are few above him.

Dake lost a few too

Spencer was wrestling on a torn acl his senior year of HS too wasn’t he….. when he lost to Desanto in the finals?

There’s no questioning his toughness or his greatness in the sport….. it’s all arbitrary on who was the best ever anyway…. so many factors….

Like someone else said I hope like hell they fixed those knees for good this time….. with his history of knee injuries if he tears another one he might have to consider hanging it up if he wants to be able to walk when he’s older

it would be a crying shame for him not to have a nice long international career after college
