Although they predict Thomas winning at 125, they draw you into the article by saying "Is Suriano posed for a title run?" I no doubt deny the young man's talent, but I'm not seeing him as a finalist over Dance.

The issue with Dance has been his inability to hit the podium the last 2 years (losing to guys he shouldn't be). At his best he's certainly a contender and (IMO) Gilman's largest threat to a title. 125 has cleared out quite a bit compared to the last couple seasons, so a Sauriano final wouldn't surprise me by any stretch. I'll side with Flo and pick Gilman as the champ either way.

Looks like a similar projection to 2011 a veteran Hawkeye who's the favorite against a true freshman penn state talent knocking off some guys on his way to the finals. Wonder what matches CP was watching when he thought this up;)

Suriano is Nico part II. I see his freshman year playing out very similarly. Will improve as the year goes on and will be a tough out for anyone.

I don't think Suriano has the offensive firepower to be like Nico. His defense is world class though.

More boring wrestling defense defense wait for a mistake his matches be mostly 2-1 sv or 3-2 just my opinion

Another Gulibon prediction by CP. Suriano 7/8, I'm starting to feel CP is on some serious drugs when he ranks PSU wrestlers.

I haven't seen a ton of Suriano, but if you watch the 30 min OT Who's no. 1 match, it speaks volumes. Suriano would just not allow himself to be taken down. His defense is off the charts.

I think against the okie kid, been a while. why what's your take chief? wait and see

His biggest wins last year were Luke Karam (2X), Ty Agaisse (2X) (whom Lee beat 15-4 at Powerade the year before I believe), and he had a revenge win against Arujau. Looking at his Track, he beat a couple of guys I never heard of 3-1 and 3-2 out at Doc. Meanwhile, Fix and Lee are beating Junior World level types. Fix is beating college dudes. After coming off being out almost the whole season, nobody lasted past the second period at PA states with Lee to include a top 5 guy.

Luke, Ty and Vito are good H.S. wrestlers but they are not Gilman, Dance, Milhof, PIccinni and host of others (yet). Would have liked to have seen Suriano wrestle freestyle against some college guys at UWW Jrs to get a better gauge. All of that said, we have no basis in which to project him as an AA. None...besides gut and the program he is in. This isn't to say he can't do it. Guys do progress throughout the season and he's in a great place. I guess I'm just asking, besides a 25 minute pre-season match with Fix two years ago, where is this automatic top 4 coming from? Just not a lot to go off of IMO. Suriano=Marinelli in the hype thing. Unfair to both.

For those who think I'm biased, i would have taken Suriano in a heartbeat at the time. But he would be shirting. Same with Lee unless he comes out in the freestyle season up at 55kg and dominates or if he is holding his own against guys like Gilman and Clark etc in the room when he gets here. Lee is a weight issue, Suriano is a offense issue.

A lot of hype around him.. thats for sure.

Outside of Gilman and Dance, 125 is not particularly deep this year like it has been in recent memory. So I don't really have a problem with predicting him as a high AA, especially with the way we have seen elite HS talent step in and be able to compete from day 1.

I agree Chief, for every true freshman that successfully makes the transition there are numerous other "can't miss" kids that for a host of reasons never quite live up to expectations at the next level. Both Suriano and Marinelli have the pedigree and track record to justify the speculation and may very well find themselves right in the middle of things this March. They may also experience the same struggles and challenges that many others with similar credentials were not able to overcome. Time will tell.

Chief Vito has a win over Fix and is a cadet world silver medalist. Sometimes comparing results doesn't always speak well for the actual caliber of the wrestler. I actually think suriano would have close matches with both Fix and Lee to be honest with you.

Speaking of Vito...he was lights out this weekend. I hadn't seen much of Mitch Moore and he looked very impressive vs Courtney. I thought for sure he'd give Vito all he could handle.

It'll be interesting to see if him and Yhanni are 33/41 or 41/49.
