Here's a quick report to add on Barrington Wade after hearing back from his coach tonight.

--

Barrington Wade had 25 carries for 142 yards and 1 touchdowns in Niles North's 43-36 loss to Deerfield this past weekend. Through 5 games, Wade has 87 carries for 823 yards and 6 touchdowns as well as 22 tackles on defense this season.

Just added a note on Brandon Simon too. His stats aren't very easy to find week to week, but he was mentioned in this article as one of the top performers in New Jersey this past weekend with 7 tackles and a sack that helped secure a win for Don Bosco Prep.

Brandon Simon, Don Bosco Prep: The Iowa commit had the sack that knocked Rummel out out field goal range and finished with seven tackles to lead the charge defensively when Don Bosco downed the nationally ranked Raiders, 10-3.

Tight end T.J. Hockenson had 7 catches for 168 yards and 2 touchdowns, but Chariton suffered their first loss of the season in a 49-47 game against Oskaloosa on Friday night. Through 5 games, Hockenson has 40 catches for 644 yards and 11 touchdowns this season.

Those are some big numbers. At 6ft5 and 230, he might be ready to step in and compete for playing time right away next year.

This is Iowa HS football your talking about. I'm not dogging it just pointing out the competition is a bit different in college.

It all depends on the flavor that our O will take next year. We should have 3 good TEs in Kittle, Outsey, and Wisnieski next year. We'll obviously still use plenty of 2 TE sets next year. However, will we use the 3 TE sets much? Will we want to? Given that Kittle is going to graduate, we'll likely want to bring some guys along. The question will be ... who will be the #4 TE? Will Pekar be able to grab the spot - he's had the advantage of time in the system? How about Vejvoda?

Hockensen and/or Fant might be able to enter the picture as a TR FR ... much like Alan Reisner did back in 2007. However, while both guys are obviously solid as receivers ... how tough are they? What sort of blockers are they? There's still a lot of questions that need answering before we know whether a TR FR is capable of contributing right away. It's possible ... because athletic bodies of that size also are useful on special teams ... however, it certainly is not a given.
