For the Crow crowd..

Great win! But I’ve seen Fran lose by 20 plus to Zaga and Nova after a great first tourney win. Hope they can get over the hump Sunday.
you might want to start praying that whoever plays tn has one hell of a game

I'll hope for the best either way though :D

Didn't exactly predict a blowout loss, but it wouldn't have surprised me one bit, and I didn't really have any confidence in my posts here. Very glad the team came out and played like they've shown they can. I hope they keep it up. I still admit that I'm not exactly happy with FM leading this program, but you can't argue with today's results. Way to go FM and the Hawkeyes!

We were gonna be physicially outmatched against any of the top 8 seeds regardless. I don’t feel that the committee was going to put us on a #5/6 this year unless we ran the table down the stretch and won the BTT. Gonna need to shoot like we’re playing Illinois to make the 16.

Lol you mad we won too??
Why do we always have to have these crow eating posts? Really happy they won today, but does any of that change how the last month of the season went, AGAIN this year? Now if this team gets to the sweet sixteen, then maybe, but why are we not able to voice our displeasure with Iowa basketball in Feb and March? It has nothing to do with today.....

If we’d played average in Feb/March we would have been the 7 seed and be in pretty much the same situation.

My thoughts on Fran remain the same.

But let us all enjoy the win.

THIS!

A tournament win should not change your opinion on a coach or player.

If we make a run to the Elite 8 then sure he deserves praise.

Look, I'm "Over-the-Moon" that we won today, and I will live and die on every possession Sunday. And yes, we should bask in today's win. But let's pump the brakes on "all is well again."

What about the sh** posts that pop up after every loss?
After any loss is not warrented. But after 3 or 4 weeks of poor play, making the same mistakes game after game, year after year, surely there is room to question just what direction the program is headed. No?

Come on ... you know "Super Fans" don't question coaching or the performance on the court ... The rest of us need to go away because only "Super Fans" can be happy with this win ... Love "Super Fans."

Once again Iowa allows an opponent have a career game. Justin Jenifer hit for a career-high 19 points.

(did I do it right?)

What about Gary Barta?

How many schools won an FBS bowl game, an NCAA tournament game, and a Women’s NCAA game?
Barta hired one of those three coaches. The one he did hire is 3-3 in the NCAA Tournament (probably 3-4 after Sunday) after 9 years at Iowa and also was the one that gave us Todd Lickliter.

Barta is in charge of an athletic program that won an FBS bowl game, an NCAA men’s and women’s basketball game. How many other ADs in the country can say that?

Oh come on...………

Drink some more of this. :D

No clue, but he should probably fill out a thank you card to Bob Bowlsby for putting 2/3 of those coaches in place and setting them up for success before leaving. He should also put out a thank you card to anyone that doesn't bring up where Iowa finishes in the B1G for the Directors Cup every year.

It does not change the last month of the season but it changes the history of the entire season. The boys hit a bad slump, took a couple of hosings from the refs and played a couple of really bad games; but those weren't the last games of the season were they?

The boys bounced back with a blow out win in the BTT. Haven't done that for five years. Upset a team ranked three seeds ahead of us in functionally a road game with hostile officiating for most of the game to win an NCAA game. Haven't had a real upset win in the NCAA for 39 years.

As for the round of 32, put it in a historical perspective. In the 40 seasons since the 1979 co champs Iowa has made it past the second round only:
1 FF-39 years ago; 1 regional final-32 years ago; and 4 Sweet 16s, the last 20 years ago. Iowa has been invited to the field of 64 only six times in the last 20 years. In those six trips Iowa has won a first round game four times-3 of those wins coming under F McC in the last five seasons. Iowa hadn't been past the first round in 14 years when F McC and the Whitey crew won in 2015.

The core of this team won only 14 games last year. Now they're in the round of 32. If TC and Isaiah really want to play some pro ball they should return and improve their weakness-both kids have much on which to work. That would give Iowa a very experienced and pretty talented group of players. That would be a team built for a Sweet 16 run. Might be as good even if TC leaves. Cordell and Nunge provide some potential for quality play.

Yeah, F McC isn't John Wooden or Bob Knight but can you say that Iowa is likely to improve significantly if we risked a coaching change because of some lousy play toward the end of a historically pretty good season?

Significantly? Probably not. Improve on a 0.488 B1G winning %? I sure hope so.

Biggest thing would not have to see our coach brought up on national sports shows chasing down refs shouting "You cheating m***********s!", being physically restrained from a ref, kicking scores tables, slamming chairs, etc. Just my opinion of course.

Hockey and Water Polo???? Does Iowa even offer those sports?

I'm beyond thrilled with the win. Anything else is gravy at this point.

That said, Cincy was favored for a reason. I fully expected an Iowa loss (and it sure looked that way in the 1st half), but this team showed some resiliency and determination I haven't seen since before the early March swoon.

Tenny is looking mighty vulnerable too. Could be a game on Sunday.

I agree with you. I can't see Moss leaving but if neither leave, we'll have more players than we could use. ( injuries aside )

I'd be willing to bet we've pretty much seen who Cook and Moss are going to be at this point. After high school, intense AAU play and 3 plus years of college, I'd be pretty suprised if we see any significant uptick in their play.
