Fran at 272 Wins is Winningest Coach in Iowa Basketball History. Patrick: “I didn’t want to leave (Siena), absolutely not. I was so mad at him.”

Fran, in the postgame, to Rob Brooks:

"I came here 14 years ago, I was so proud to be the Hawkeye coach. I was so familiar with the history of this program and the great teams and the great players and the great coaches. Never thought that at some point I'd be compared with Dr. Tom and would actually be here long enough to break that record."

One of his craziest wins. Down 10 points with 89 seconds to go.

Congrats to Fran!
Once again he has brought his guys back from the abyss(0-3) to .500.
As micheal corleone famously stated
" I thought I was out; but they pulled me back in!"
Hawkeye fans need a competitive Hawkeye BB team to weather Jan & Feb...thanks again Coach!

It took sacrifice for Fran McCaffery to get where is now. Early in his coaching career, he had a side hustle as a mail courier, delivering postage and tending to professors' needs. Years later, he is Iowa men’s basketball’s winningest coach:

Thanks for the large print for old geezers like myself.

Here's a great post from a parent whose child (Tate) battled a rare form of brain cancer that grows within the brain stem. Tate, sadly, passed away. This is something most people don't see. The McCaffery family is making an impact on people outside of basketball.

Tom Davis, who made an appearance on Hawk Talk on Wednesday night, speaking about Fran McCaffery:

“With this year’s team, I wanted to mention, I think this is as good a job as I’ve seen of a coach taking new talent coming in — the freshmen class or the new players, transfers, as well — and merging them with what you had returning, with some pretty good talent returning. And (to) be playing at the high level they’re playing is pretty amazing. That’s a pretty amazing coaching feat.”

Many fans, including myself, take Fran for granted.
He does a great job squeezing every ounce of production from his rosters.
If games break our way tonite we could be alone in 5th place in the league with this young, athletically limited crew...after starting 0-3.
Never saw that happening.
Congrats Frannie..pure class!
