Fran gone

Last night I think he told the ref he wanted to get kicked out, then gave him an excuse to.

I wonder what his relationship with the referees was like. He didn't seem like the "grease the wheels" type of guy that Izzo is.

As a Drake alum, I am still amazed at what McCollum accomplished this year. I also understand where Drake is in the Div I world. What he and DeVries both did was exceptional coaching, in different ways.

Will Iowa go after him? I think they will. Especially if he can bring the MVC conference player of the year with him. He should be a solid, if not spectacular, player in the Big 10. Will McCollum want Iowa though? Or DeVries?
That's the tough part. Both coaches are new at their schools so it might be tough to convince them to move again. But money talks.

And I agree, it's wild what McCollum has been able to accomplish this year. I believe I heard that 14 guys left from Drake's team last year? And he brought some of the D2 guys with him that have exceeded expectations immensely.

Back in Feb of 2021, the first sporting event I went to after covid when things started opening up was a Drake game. I've been a fan ever since. I thoroughly enjoy following them along every year. Now that I live in Cedar Falls, I'm trying to get that way with UNI too, but I'm still more pulled towards Drake at this point/csb

People like to over exaggerate his blowups. It's actually pretty damn hilarious to watch some of the pearl clutching that would happen when he would get a tech. Like how dare he.
Agree. I always like the isu fans talking about it. Snaggle tooth Campbell loses his shit as frequently and alot has fewer games.

McCollum might be a great coach but holy shit is Drake boring as F to watch play offense. I already watch a football team that struggles to score.
You're not wrong, but as they say about McCollum, he coaches to his team's strengths. And Drake's strength this year was a solid guard who could control the game, and a team defense that would get after you. Wisconsin-lite.

And after watching Iowa's defense over the years, it was refreshing.

It doesn't matter. If my team scores 50 or 100, as long as they score 1 more than the opponent.

Longtime Iowa men’s basketball head coach Fran McCaffery is parting ways with Iowa after 15 seasons. McCaffery compiled a 297-207 overall mark in Iowa City, but departs after a disappointing 17-16 season that saw the Hawkeyes miss the NCAA tournament for a second straight season. Despite the struggles, McCaffery’s job in revitalizing the Iowa program from the basement to an eventual Big Ten Tournament champion will earn him a fond place in Hawkeye basketball history in due time.

One refreshing thing I learn from threads like this is that MAGA idiots also have terrible sports takes.
