Christian Williams, Andrew Fleming, Brandon Hutton, Ahmad Wagner and Isaiah Moss. Throw Ellingson and Dailey into the mix and you have quite an impressive list for Fran. For a guy who is so averse to adding transfers he does a hell of a job of generating them. Glad we aren't like other programs who have players leaving constantly. Out of these 7 players Fran identified (1) who was actually capable of contributing at this level (Moss). Is this Lickliter's fault too?

Fran just can't face reality head on. The game has changed. Players have changed. If a situation isn't working out for them they are going to look elsewhere. They aren't bad kids or thugs as many on this board assert. They simply want a change of venue. Good for them. Fran should have been utilizing this from day one or at least year 6 but he continues to think he is going to land the next 4-5 star kid with multiple better offers. Iowa needs experience and toughness. There is no viable option for a 2 guard on the team. People slotting Connor in there apparently don't understand that the 2 guard is a shooting / scoring guard not a dribbling / passing guard.

We get it. You detest Fran.

30 minutes before this thread you started one on him not using transfers knowing that we are in on 3. Then you feel a second one is needed? I agree he hasn’t taken your advice and brought in anyone since your first post.

My guess is we see J Bo play the 2 more minutes, Joe W may slide into that spot with Patrick (missed opportunity for knocking another of Frans son’s) playing some minutes at the 3, and CJ may earn minutes there as well.

You’re a Hawk fan who obviously is a huge fan of the transfer portal. I fail to see how these posts enhance that process. I’d like a 5 star to fill the 2 guard role next year as well, but facing reality head on that probably isn’t happening.

At this point I’m just beating a dead horse. I hope your day gets better and that we can all rejoice in being in a country that allows free speech.

The 2014 and 2015 classes ended up being terrible.

Dickerson---Transfer
Uhl---graduated
Ellingson---Grad Transfer

Jones---Transfer
Williams---Transfer
Moss---Transfer, unsure if he's graduating
Wagner---Transfer
Fleming---Transfer
Hutton---Transfer

The real takeaway from that player list is Fran's remarkable recruiting.

Plus we got to the second round last season. Which is equivalent to national championship for iowa basketball

Lakers said on the radio yesterday that they could not find any indication that Ike will graduate this spring which has confused this situation.
He said it is possible that with a heavy summer course load Ike might make it.
Curious to see if he enrolls somewhere else or what.

That’s called missing on top prospects and not having players pan out. I think it’s pretty obvious that recruiting has got a lot better since then.

Indeed Moss is graduating and has spent 4 years in the program. But also true that he didn't finish out his career at IOWA, he transferred. I think that's the point of the OP despite his wording.

I think OP thinks he has though out this situation and his multiple posts regarding it, but it seems several others think his thought process may require a bit more thinking (wording included).

There has been no confirmation that Moss is graduating that I have seen.

2 grad transfers, 1 graduate for 3 grads altogether. 2 of them were not high school recruits with one having injury issues (Jones, not on Fran) and another just plain having issues staying at the same school (Dickerson, 4-5 schools, not on Fran). Others transferred because they weren’t going to play much. I hope you’re not one to complain about 10-12 man rotations, too. Another isn’t even playing basketball, he’s playing football or did.

To be honest, those players were reaches for B1G players. Good guys but very marginal B1G players.

Yes.

The title of this thread is incorrect. the number is not zero.
Furthermore, Moss already used his red shirt year. Unless he graduates, doesn't that mean that his playing career at this level is over unless he were to get some sort of exemption?

Isn't Fran trying to get Harvey and the Hauser bros? I agree that Fran has not pursued transfers as much as he probably should have, especially last year, but the way the transfers out have been handled seems to have been done appropriately. When it was clear that a player was not going to contribute, Fran helped the kid find a better place. As mentioned, Moss and Ellingson were here four years and left as "grad transfers", when it became clear that their goals were not going to fit the team goals.

I was surprised that Moss is transferring, but we won't know how that works out until we see JoeT, PMac and Frederick play. Almost to a person, posters have been disappointed in Moss and his inablity to consistently play at a high level. I am also concerned that we now have fewer proven options on the perimeter, and could be especially vulnerable if we have injuries or foul trouble.

Well said. Moss was one of the most maligned players on the team. Now suddenly he is one of the most important?

Iowa does take a hit on depth but there is still a workable rotation. But if there are any injuries, losing Dailey and Moss will be more impactful. I hope McC can get a grad transfer guard for that reason.

This shows you how important it is to have an assistant who can truly evaluate talent. Iowa State owed much of its resurgence to the recruiting efforts of TJ Otzelberger. Hope Fran can pick up an evaluator like that.

Meh...2016 epic collapse, 2017 NIT says it all, 2018 totally sucked, 2019...Jbo saved Fran's ass and Fran having a Lickliter-like transfer exodus.

Not to fan the flames but I'm pretty sure that when Joe Toussaint signed with Iowa it was primarily because of the chance to play alongside Tyler Cook and Isiah Moss. Now that they are gone, don't be surprised that at some point during the summer, there will be rumblings that Joe might try to get his release from Iowa. Just saying.
