Fran you are an embarrassment

You are making the case for giving Fran more time to win in the NCAAs. Blunder is a great example of why you would give Fran more time. Most of her NCAA success happened after several years of frustration. Same with McDermott.
Excellent point!

Yeah, I was thinking the same, though I wasn't going to be the debbie downer to bring this up following such a great win last night. This doesn't happen often for Iowa sports, so I'd rather just enjoy the moment.

The success of the women's program the past several years really just illustrates why the past few decades have been such a disappointment from the men's side of things. If the women can do it, there's no reason why the men's program shouldn't be able to string together a couple consecutive NCAA tournament wins here and there, either. Kind of beating a dead horse, though. We all are aware.

Love threads like this. Yes, Fran has really shitty post season success. But so did the Iowa women's team for the same number of years of Lisa Bluders career. If anyone cared about women's basketball 10 years ago I'm sure people would have wanted her gone too. Especially since that program actually did do well in the early 90s.

If anything it scares me that Barta has an example to follow why another 10 years for the men to do anything can totally pay off.

Bluder to replace Fran? Why not?
Man I'd take that in a nano second. The women can pass, rotate, cut, set screens, move, and make clutch baskets.

Long time ago, I thought no way Iowa would win with so many Caucasian girls. I am gladly eating humble crow. That offense where they run it through the post reminds me of Uncle Phil's Bulls Triangle offense and it's awesome. Colorado and Louisville had some big gals but due to those cuts and movement, they looked like rigid stiffs.

Fran is supposedly an offensive wizard so wtf knows. All I know is many more L's on the anvil for the men and all the people supporting Franwich now will be back on the board unleashing hell at the atrocity that the men's team will be.

I hope the women win it all. That would be awesome and yes Bluder for men's coach!

Im sure Fran is embarrased by a womans bball coach lmao. I bet Kirk is embarrssed by the Dowling program as well.

Bluder got knocked out before the Sweet Sixteen her first 14 years at Iowa, the “ceiling” isn’t as real as you think.

But she had won the big ten regular season conference title and multiple big tournament titles. Prior to that. A succession of increasing success’s

Anyway you cut it, the men's basketball program is the worst major Iowa program for many years, including Fran. Fran took Iowa's basketball program from being total crap to just below being good and injected his sons into the mix instead of guys that were really good players for one and then playing any kind of defense on the court is unknown to him. Fran's program is the worst major program at Iowa and it's not even close.

Bluder won as many tournament titles as Fran has her first 13 years. But according to this board, they don't count. And hers was in first year at Iowa. It was awesome when they won the regular season in 2008, but women's basketball in the Big Ten was so weak then that Iowa was a 9 seed. It wasn't until Maryland joined the Big Ten that it actually turned into a good WBB conference
