Fran you are an embarrassment

Bluder won as many tournament titles as Fran has her first 13 years. But according to this board, they don't count. And hers was in first year at Iowa. It was awesome when they won the regular season in 2008, but women's basketball in the Big Ten was so weak then that Iowa was a 9 seed. It wasn't until Maryland joined the Big Ten that it actually turned into a good WBB conference

So you’re saying the winning regular season title is not important or shows coaching skills/ potential success in the league? Also big tens men’s basketball has not done well nationally for some time.

See, for example, Lisa Bluder.

Congratulations!

I'm saying, based on many on this board, is that only the postseason matter. Somehow, what Bluder accomplished well into her career, is an indictment on how bad Fran is. Other than the 2008 regular season championship, Fran and Lisa's career at Iowa has been nearly identical for the first 13 seasons. If Fran won a regular season title 4 or 5 years ago but still failed to reach the Sweet 16, just as many people here would still want him fired.

Don’t forget bluders multiple big tournament titles in those early years. No comparison to Fran

Not sure your comment is accurate? Most people that are disgruntled with McCaffery is because other than one BIG tourney and early NCAA outs his Iowa teams have not done much of anything with some pretty exceptional talent. Between the aforementioned and his very obvious nepotism, poor defense, and early outs folks are tired of waiting for McCaffery to improve Iowa's men's BBall.

You do recall that Lick took the program to the depths, and Fran resurrected it, don't you? You are aware that his team has finished in the top half of the Big 10 9 of the last 10 years, aren't you? You are aware that Iowa is one of the few teams in the nation that has been to the dance the last 4 years, aren't you? Sure, we're all wanting to see deeper runs in the dance, but for f*ck's sake give Fran SOME credit. You lose all credibility when stating the program hasn't improved under Fran. It has!

You lose all credibility with your comments defending a program that has not really improved in the last 5/6 years even with very special talent. Yes FM resurrected the program after lick. Do you know how bad a coach would have to be to not be better than Lick? Sad that you care about the coach more than the program, very sad.

We're still dredging Todd. Alrighty then.

Don't put words in my mouth. I care very much about the program. However, I also feel that many who post on this forum, including you, are hesitant to give credit where and when it's due. Fran improved the program. The team is in the top half of the conference each year. They get into the dance nearly every year. Yes, we would all like to see more NCAA tourney success. But the constant complaining about Fran without ever giving him some credit is tiring.

Not true at all. I have given FN credit for resurrecting the program. But, it has leveled off in the last 5/6 years with very talented folks. So, no it is not improving and not to mention the nepotism which I find deplorable when he put his kids ahead of the program, So, do not try and BS me with your personal take. It is also tiring to hear you Fran fans constantly defending him no matter results.

I agree to disagree!

Is that not true? Bluder has had continuous improvement. Okay, Fran we head into year 14.

Nobody cares about losing in the final. It's nitpicking. Also, she only made it back to the Big Ten Tournament final once in her first 13 years. Also, if we're using the Big Ten Tournament as an example, wouldn't Fran winning it last year count as improvement?

Enough with the counter arguing. Fran's defenses suck and it's time for him to go.

Deal with it and move on to impatiently waiting to complain about whoever we hire next.........

How many players of the year did he have?? 3?? What about all the the NBA players?? Which is it?? Does he have talent or not?

Please name the three NPOY or even B1G POY.

NBA players, I come up with six (Kris would make 7). Less than Wisconsin, OSU, MSU, Purdue, Michigan, Maryland, and even with ILL.

Is seven players in 13 years a lot? IDK, for a frame of reference, Kentucky has had about nine in the last three years. I’d guess that number is about average or slightly below for the B1G.

I say he deserves probably 3 more years to get Iowa either a BTC or S16 appearance.

Not that much to ask from a coach that will have been in place for 16 years.

Tom Davis was shown the door for less.

*hiring a new AD is the more urgent move

I forgot Obi took it Garza's Jr. year. Did Keegan get any national play his national year? Anyway, I agree with you on the lack of talent. I was just parroting what the board sycophants always say.
