Fran you are an embarrassment

Not true at all. I have given FN credit for resurrecting the program. But, it has leveled off in the last 5/6 years with very talented folks. So, no it is not improving and not to mention the nepotism which I find deplorable when he put his kids ahead of the program, So, do not try and BS me with your personal take. It is also tiring to hear you Fran fans constantly defending him no matter results.

I agree to disagree!
I'm not a diehard Fran fan. I'm just tired of a bunch of armchair QBs constantly complaining...unless, of course, Iowa's on a win streak. Then there's mostly silence until the next loss.

Trust me the folks tired of the "Fran experience" are also tired of the "Fran fans" constant defending McCaffery and his results on the court. It works both ways just an FYI.

"Mostly silence", huh? Let's not be a drama queen. You might need to sit down for this but fans of any team tend to be complimentary when they play well and win and then will be critical when they play like crap and lose. Crazy concept, I know.

Considering Fran is just a smidge over .500 in the bten at Iowa you get plenty of both. If you expect people to be all happy go lucky the way they finished the season losing to 2 losing teams and a team that had lost 9 of last 13 then you're just delusional. Maybe don't log on here after the losses if you are that sick of it but no sweet 16's in a 30 yr career is worthy of some criticism

How many players of the year did he have?? 3?? What about all the the NBA players?? Which is it?? Does he have talent or not?
Though I am happy when a Hawkeye gets picked for the pros, I am tired of this idea that a player is not a valuable college player unless he does. Same with a HS player not starring in college..

"Drama queen"? Do you even know what that means? I was just pointing out the obvious - that many who post here give little or no credit to Fran when winning (there is a reason the Hawks are regularly among the most efficient offensive team in the nation, and there is a reason the Hawks came back from huge deficits multiple times this season) and are usually very quiet on this forum. But when the Hawks lose, they become very vocal. Just stating a fact. Nothing emotional about it (thus, your "drama queen" statement is just ridiculous).

I would love it if Fran put a greater emphasis on defense, from recruiting guys who have demonstrated great defensive skills and traits to expecting and rewarding with PT accountability for D during games. I'm hoping to see evidence of this next season and beyond.

See evidence next season? In season 14?

I say he deserves probably 3 more years to get Iowa either a BTC or S16 appearance.

Not that much to ask from a coach that will have been in place for 16 years.

Tom Davis was shown the door for less.

*hiring a new AD is the more urgent move
You think the Tom Davis firing was a good thing?

Doesn't matter, the precedent has been set.

Also, there are many schools similar to Iowa (historical success, state population size, major conference affiliation/$$, etc) that move on from coaches who don't achieve something significant after 10 years let alone 15+ years.

I'm okay giving Fran a little more time to achieve some greatness...but not indefinitely or until he decides to retire.

Go tell him in person. Maybe you'll get a glimpse of the famous McCaffery temper. But most likely he will just pat you on the head and tell you to eat your veggies and obey your parents while you're staying in their basement.
I would love to hear Fran's response to a fan that asked him why they don't preach defense and why don't we have guards that look like they can withstand contact let alone control a game.

Why would I do that when I'm living rent free in your head? Haha, nice troll attempt. A solid 4.5/10.

Since you asked....YES! In the latter years of Tom's coaching at Iowa he relied way too much on scheduling cup cake opponents to get Iowa's win totals to around 19 or 20 and his recruiting for far from top notch. At that time, that was the high water mark that was needed to get invited.
Just because the coaching change didn't produce the results that Iowa fans expected it doesn't necessary mean that it was destined to fail.
The head coaches that followed Dr. Tom failed because the first one ran into bad luck with injuries and was extremely arrogant and stuck by a player that was accused of sexual misconduct, and the other was too lazy to even go out and recruit or hire the necessary experienced assistants to bring in Big Ten talent, not a receipt for success and it wasn't.
You can blame AD Bob Bowlby all you want but it was time for a change.
If anything it was the way that the University went about it, notifying Dr. Tom that his contract was not going to be renewed and creating a lame duck year that set Iowa basketball on the course that ultimately caused 10 years of discord.
I'm was not alone, there were thousands of Iowa fans that thought the same thing and if necessary I'd hope that the University would have the nuts to do it again if the time was right to make a change.
When that time comes, is going to be up to whomever is in charge, but now is not the time in my opinion and hopefully the parting of ways will be done mutually, the right way.

He’s frightened by the Iowa City police. You know he’d be terrified of Franny Mac.

I discussed WBB win with my friend from Iowa City last night and here is what he said: "Incredible game. Clark is one of the kind. Total team effort, everyone knowing their roles. Fran wouldn't know how to locate the Final Four on the map, let alone take a team there."

As much as I hate the Franwich, you think Bluder could recruit and coach the right men at Iowa to make it to the National Championship game? Come on.

I do think it's a million times tougher to win a men's title versus a women's one.
I would actually disagree with you on that; parity in WBB is far less than on the men's side. WBB is similar in a lot of ways to FBS football where the same handful of schools compete for the title and everyone else is playing second fiddle.

If that is true, how is Iowa in the championship game?

A variety of factors, I'm sure. Having a bona fide, generational superstar certainly helps (plus the fact that the rest of the team is not too shabby themselves). Coaching, luck, the list goes on and on.

Better not mention luck. Last time I mentioned needing it to advance in a basketball tournament I was heavily criticized.
