Free the Lee!

If he wasn't going to wrestle this year at all , he'd surely a) have had at least one operation already and b) not be drilling at all.

90% spencer is far and away the favorite. I could see the Hodge being harder to get this year based on everyone trying to wrestle him like Courtney did in the finals. I'd love to see Lee never leave the center of the mat this year and just beckon everyone to come in and actually wrestle him. If they don't, Lee always chooses top and gets the turn and stick that way.

I am not sure why so many people assume that he is going to surgically repair his ACLs during his wrestling career. He seems prone to tearing them, so it seems to me like there is a good chance he just goes without.

Hodge is going to be hard because he likely won't wrestle enough matches to be in consideration. Misses too many events he won't get the votes.
I do agree that it will be far more difficult due to lack of matches, but never say never. The folks who vote on this stuff are well aware of his situation, so that could factor in if "the form" is still there. (It will make it harder no doubt, but first things first, Just Win Baby!)

I doubt Spencer cares much about the Hodge at this point. I suspect he wants #4 for him and 3 years running of the Hawks on top. I think those things would make him, and me, smile. 🙂

Welcome back Doc! Great to see you on here again
Glad to be back. Iowa Preps was a great forum, now not so much. That's why I migrated back here. Iowa wrestling is GOOD STUFF! Having Lee ready for the Big Tens is really all that counts.
Incredible talent; get the 4th title, then get the knees fixed and win the Olympics a couple of times. By the way, I think Brands will do fine going forward at 174.

Corby from MatScouts is reporting on Rokfin that we WILL see Spencer wrestle in Florida. Not sure why he would know anything more than anyone else but he doesn’t typically shoot from the hip.

Correct. He's on the record saying he hasn't gotten them repaired and the earliest he'd get them repaired would be after 2024/2025. It would be a 12-15 month recovery, so doing them after NCAA's in 2022 would mean he'd miss the 2022 and 2023 WTT. He's done with missing world teams over ACL tears.

Probs go to the the dbag Gopher from the north.
Like it was supposed to last year until at the last minute they changed their own rules? Lol. Just playing. Big Lee fan tho. Can’t wait to see him crushing dudes. Really hoping for him to be a four timer.

Both Gable and Lee are going to be part timers this year so the hodge will be interesting. I think it’s more open this year than the past two years.

With 2 torn ACLs, don't use him until one has to.
Is it correct that all he HAS to do is compete in the Big 10s to be eligible for the NCAA Finals?
Or does he have to have a certain # of duals before the Big 10s?
Been away from NCAA wrestling for awhile.
So, this must be his swan song, eh?

I'm assuming this is just an educated guess. It would be a bit annoying if coaches had confirmed to Corby that Spencer was a definite while leaving Hawk fans to guess.

I think it would take considerably longer to rehab ACLS. This is based off of the stress needed from the non surgical leg for rehab drills. The repaired leg would get some stress when the other one gets repaired. Somebody here said do both at the same time. That to me would seem impossible due to the needs of having at least one good leg to complete the rehab.

Didn't realize Lee still had a redshirt.
Given the extended ACL surgery recovery time, he probably should have had at least one fixed last Spring, with the other ASAP afterward.
ASAP would be after complete rehab since rehab requires a stable good leg.

Longer than 12-15 months? That’s already on the conservative side.
