1. Free throws- that’s on us, not acceptable and it cost us the game
2. Announcers- Turn in your check— uniformed and just shit all game did a horrible job of building this up as a hot team versus a big ten title contender until the last second.. they were shit.
3. Refs- biggest **** job since MSU in BT tournament 2013ish!? Absolutely ****ing garbage

1. Yep.
2. I turned off the volume about 5 minutes into the second half. I’ve decided FS1 isn’t worth listening to if you’re not a fan of a name program.
3. Refs are just about ruining the game. I hope to god that someday vision systems and AI will replace them.

This game wasn’t on the refs. There were a couple big no calls, but it was pretty inconsistent both ways. Kofi gets mauled a lot without fouls being called. We played well in the first half, gave up a mini run, then couldn’t hit a ft in the second half. Shoot your average and no one is bitching about a couple no calls.

You think this game was well officiated? Get a clue....

Free throws cost us the game.
Also, Refereeing in the B1G needs to be looked at. It's terrible. Not just this game, not just these teams. It's a bunch of games with different teams. It sucks in basketball and it sucks in football. The conference has got to address this. We see it all the time. Every team and A.D. needs to bring this up constantly at the B1G meetings. Seriously.

Free throws cost Iowa the game. That said, it’s inexcusable how long Cockburn is allowed to stay in the lane. He wouldn’t be nearly as effective if he was forced to leave.

Announcers really didn't want Cockburn to get fouls.

If you look across the landscape of college basketball lots of guys park in the lane for long periods of time these days. Its not just this game.

So that's a, "yes, my guy gets away with breaking the rules" then.

gotta make FTs---if they do they win. Did a few calls go the wrong way, yeah.

Kris had a really good look to win the game, 40% of the time that would be a game winner

I do not like the trend though..... Loss to Rutger's thanks to a foul, but it would have been 50/50 at best even if no call. Then OT loss to Penn State. And then a winnable game vs Illini.....Iowa 0-3 in those games...but has the best winning margin in B1G......meanwhlle WIsconsin 5th place in B1G in winning margin, but they won nearly all their close games. Good teams have to find ways to win and not make mistakes.

If the rule is not enforced anywhere in college basketball, it no longer becomes 1 guy getting away with it.
Its how the game is officiated these days, guys are parking in the lane all over the place.

Officials are actually very consistent of not calling 3 seconds this year

Can’t say I disagree with any of your points.

Oh, I agree. The level of officiating late in the ISU/Baylor game was embarrassing. Not sure what standards officials are held to but it needs to be addressed. These are easy calls being missed.

Your last paragraph sums up Iowa basketball in a nutshell. Can never win the close ones. Our last second shot will always rim out.

Yeah, I'm feeling pretty salty over this one.

Nobody has said the refs don’t matter. There were 38 fouls called during this game, 19 on both teams. There could have been more. Iowa would have had to make their free throws for it to matter though.
Oh you are one of THOSE morons

Yeah I'm done with you....

BTW fouls are a PART of their job

It is an issue with the conference as a whole.

The men's refs are not doing good enough, and the women's refs all need to be replaced.

You are a real piece of work. You resort to name calling for anyone who disagrees with you because you are so smart. I have agreed with you that the officiating was not good. I just do not blame the loss on the officials.
Fair enough.. Sorry that wasn't nice.

I can't stand when people try to even mention foul count when duscussing refs. It means absolutely nothing...
add to the fact it cost us BOTH IL games!

Classic example of reffing in the Big and why Illinois won’t do squat in the NCAAs while Iowa should do well. Kofi fouls everyone he gets the ball or defends. Home team got every call it could. Rebraca got called for a foul without even Breathing.

And we still choked the game away at the free throw line. That hurts.

Actually that is mostly luck. Sometimes it is on your side and sometimes its not. Wisconsin banking in two threes the other night against Purdue has nothing to do with them being better in close games, it simply means they are lucky this year. KenPoms luck factor spells that out pretty well. Execution and defense were pretty good down the stretch tonight. Missing free throws and a few calls not going are way were not. It happens. If you don't think we are a good basketball team because we have lost four close games down this season I don't know what to tell ya.
