Last night I watched a replay on ESPN where we lost a football game. Tonight they’re showing another football game we lose at the same time they’re showing a softball game we lose.
I know we lose the softball game because they’ve shown it a lot recently. I mean, because we never win.....

Oh, I’ve seen all those games on ESPN recently. And the one wide left too. Apparently we never win anything.
I will say you have done less than more in football than I ever would have thought imaginable. It is like when Texas, Florida, and USC all used to suck or be mediocre.

JFC that's crazy your teams in '06 and '08 were legit. Hope they show those national title years years to make you feel better.

Finishing in the top five for 14 straight years was an incredible run of success.

Winning only two championships, while being a contender fourteen times, is also incredible, but not in a good way.

Three. That's THREE. THREE.

That is still better than the Atlanta Braves. They only won a single World Series in their 14 year run.

Even though we've pretty much sucked in football for several years, for some reason, folks don't see it that way and its bigger news/ratings when we lose.

As mentioned by Orlandnole, I was talking about the run of success under Bowden. During that stretch, we almost never lost to inferior teams. We were arguably below average in games in which we were evenly matched.

One of the better sports fan arguments/debates is along those lines; would you rather your team be consistently good/very good for a long stretch, with few or no actual championships? Or in the same timeframe, suck much of the time but win several titles?
The Braves are a great example of the former; 14 years straight years of making the playoffs. Lots of fun as a fan during the preseason and regular season, knowing you're a contender to win it - but almost always ending in disappointment.
The Marlins are a great example of the latter; win two championships in a short time frame (6 or 7 years?), but pretty much terrible in the other years (IIRC, they've made the playoffs twice in their existence, winning the WS both times). Lots of season where you're out of the hunt by Memorial Day, selling off your best players to accumulate young potential & hope that they all mature at the same time.

FSU football is so bad it made Charlie Ward quit playing it.
Here’s the thing, ESPN doesn’t play games from our current sucky teams. They play games from our great teams, including baseball and softball, but always the one game we lost that year. So the game they chose Friday night FSU went 10-2 on the season beating Clemson and going on to win the ACC title. What game did they show? The choke job to NC State.

The Philadelphia Eagles have had all of what you describe. Good under Vermeil. Great under Buddy. Terrible under Kotite. Great under Reid. No SBs though...until Doug.

So 2 years ago? Even today that statement is 2-3 true.
