Game broadcast comment

Whatever the motivation, he's overdue to justify the hype. Needs to keep it going.
I would love to see him get a few INTs the rest of this year. Merriweather and many of our safeties have been ball hawks. I can only remember X having two picks in his career.

Replay is an unfair political process. It was bullshit that Kirk had to burn a timeout to request a review. Any close scoring play should be immediately considered.

I'm not expecting lasers on the goalposts. Just quickly go to review, check it from all available angles, and make a call. In this case, I don't think there was any undisputed evidence, so the call would stand. Bullshit to call anything unreviewable.

The entire process feels cheated and unfair.

Was at game and later rewatched the tv broadcast as I wanted to see the dude getting trucked out of bounce and the replay of the field goal, but found a comment during the broadcast very telling. They were talking about Tim Lester and when he came here and what he found most surprising, and it was the practices are so physical and he had never seen anything like it in his playing or coaching career.

Saw Babineaux's comment also that transitioning to NFL was a piece of cake coming from Iowa's program.
WOB ruling?

Once the play was ruled unreviewable, Iowa should have retained their TO and coach’s challenge. Pretty BS to review the play to determine it wasn’t reviewable. I can say that I’ve never seen a replay play out like that. A play reviewed to see if it was reviewable or not.

Every play in CFB is reviewed by the replay official. If it was determined that the fg was above the goal posts and therefore not reviewable, that should have been communicated to the coaching staff before the coach’s challenge.

I thought Huard was very complimentary of Iowa, maybe even excessively so, lol.

I mean he just droned on and on about the Iowa system, the continuity, 26 years ...

Good observations but ... we get it already.
Wasn't there a comment made during the telecast about Ferentz, Iowa and the way things were done back in the late 70's which was intended, I spose, to be a compliment to KFs overall success and longevity, but came across as KF and Iowa being outdated??? Maybe it's just the way I perceived it.

So if the ball was determined to

Dunno.

But I'll probably rewatch the game and keep an open ear since you mentioned it.

I think X was trying to get a highlight reel together to show the pros.
Liked the way he was making the tackle and kept his legs driving through the tackle burrying the opponent. Particularly his hit on punt coverage. Nice to see.

I think his biggest failing prior was his unwillingness to make contact and put the beating on the opponent. This game seemed to be a turning point for him.

Any announcers are better than Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson. SEC fans are glad their gone from their games
They are much better than the ISU-WVU game announcers. I thought they were going to have an on-air fight during the game. PBP guy got pissed whenever the co-host didn't agree with one of his bad takes on a recent play. Might need to split that crew up.

Last nights NFL game had a play that the coach challenged. Think it was Rodger’s incomplete pass call late in game. Officials said it wasn’t reviewable. Coach got his TO and challenge back.

The field goal deal was reviewed to see if the ball was above the posts, meaning higher than the highest point on either post and once it was verified it technically becomes non-reviewable.

I get that, someone mentioned KF lost the TO for the challenge. He shouldn’t have if it wasn’t technically reviewable.

I will have to watch that portion of the replay and see if they took one off or not. I wasn't paying that close attention to that.

Did # 7 get penalized 15 yards for spiking the ball after his TD? If that was it they need to quit flagging that BS also. I am sure they are told just flip the ball to the ref, but we don't want a kid to celebrate a little making a TD.

Yes

Maybe wanted to give a reason to Phil to keep him on the field full time again.
I think this is it! I noted in a thread earlier this year that I just didn’t think he was the game changer and especially the hard-hitting, always around the ball safety we’ve become accustomed to over the years. And that was an accurate assessment.

And then boom…this game happened where he literally seemed like an entirely different player! If he keeps it up, he will indeed become the difference maker we’ve been waiting for imo. Question remains if it was a one game wonder or if that’s the “new X” from here on out.

Ps - anyone else wonder if he is interested in making a case to join his (puke) buddy Proctor for his senior year?

He’s a jackass
He’s not good. He and the other guy seem to see things that didn’t happen then continue on as if it did on hits or fumbles that didn’t happen. Danielson was calling a hit targeting when the receiver wasn’t even hit a couple weeks ago. I was like what are you talking about, there is nothing there. They seem to make up shiat on a regular basis. I don’t get it. They are bad.
