Do we have a guy that reminds Fran how many time outs he has ? I think he could of used one or two down the stretch to break the momentum. Get everyone reset and give Kris a blow with out taking him out.

Actually thought he was pretty cagey not using a timeout. His team had the lead and it forced Brownell to use up all of Clemson’s timeouts. They were not able to draw up any kind of final play at the end.
No, but the point is his strategy worked. Believe me I was screaming for him to use a timeout too. But Fran knows what he is doing a lot more than me.
If that was his plan then it worked .....but we do have a guy that tracks that stuff ?
Iowa did not dictate the pace of the game today. Still beat a respectable ACC team at their game. Well done by the coaches and players.
A win is a win but I hope Fran learned last night that teams with a pulse will make things very difficult for Kris. Credit Patrick for stepping up as the team was on the verge of another flat start with Perkins and Sandfort shooting poorly. Fortunate that Clemson could not throw it in the ocean for 2/3 of the game but Fran did his best to give the game away with his Brian Ferentz offense down the stretch.
Kris will learn to adjust when teams do what Clemson did, but his decision making and shot selection were poor last night. Connor has been shooting the ball too well to revert to staring down open shots, especially with Sandfort struggling. Bowen, Ulis, and Josh were tremendous off the bench and gave Iowa some points and energy.

I thought we should have seen Bowen for Ulis during that big Clemson run in the second half. Perkins banged up, kris couldn’t get it going. Pmac was on the bench. We needed at least some threat of offense, and Ulis definitely isn’t that. Seemed Fran was ok just trying to keep the lead instead of keep attacking.
This may.be true but all paths to a positive result are not the good paths. I'm happy for the win but it's ok to use the time outs.
I would have liked to see Fran have a defensive sub in for Perkins after he made this second free throws - both times. 1) it would have allowed the defense to get set. 2) Perkins has 4 fouls. Keeping him on the player bringing the ball up court didn’t give us the opportunity to foul and make them shoot free throws instead of MAKING 3s!
Other than that, I thought game management was good. I don’t mind not taking timeouts - just calm down and play disciplined basketball. They have experienced players on the court that should be able to slow the pace when needed.

Tough for teams to completely scout the other, but any time late in a game that Connor is on the court and another guy is taking it out of bounds after a score, Fran has called the pass to Connor out of bounds and the return pass to the guy originally taking it out. He does it a few time a year, and it always seems to work. It sealed the game last night.
Iowa won. And had the lead the last minute and a half. If he needed to, he would have used it but he has a fairly experienced team that didn't panic.
Right that's what I was asking ....you don't get a prize at the end of the year if you have the most not used.. it just appeared to me that we could of broke the momentum and maybe reset the line up
Tends to throw the defense off for just a split second,.. surprising how often that play works.
